Princess Charlotte’s touching coronation gesture for brother Louis melts hearts

Over the weekend, all eyes were naturally on King Charles III as he was crowned in London.

However, for those who were observant enough, there were plenty of things happening behind the scenes.

One such thing involved Princess Charlotte and her brother, Prince Louis.

It goes without saying that the coronation of King Charles III was a significant event for the entire British royal family, and nerves were understandably running high.

More than 20 million people in the United Kingdom tuned in to watch the coronation on Saturday, making the event the most-watched TV broadcast of the year.

The ceremony in Westminster Abbey was a successful one, and the royals ended their big day with their classic handwaving on the Buckingham Palace balcony, while jet planes did their flyovers in the sky. Prince William and Kate greeted the crowd outside the Palace along with their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

But an event before the actual ceremony also caught a lot of attention, as Charlotte and Louis were seen arriving at Westminster Abbey. Initially difficult to discern with the naked eye, photos revealed a heartwarming sight of the siblings holding hands as the ceremony commenced at Westminster Abbey.

The young Prince Louis, who turned five on April 28, made his first major royal historical outing with his parents and siblings at the coronation.

In this tender moment, Charlotte’s hand gently rested on top of her brother’s, as she lowered her head while the enthusiastic Prince observed the proceedings. Many interpreted Charlotte’s actions as a sign of her being there for her brother on this momentous day.

Online, reactions poured in, with one Twitter user commenting, ”Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte. How sweet.”

“Yall look at Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte holding hands behind their parents,” said another.

It comes as no surprise that Charlotte, 8, was more than willing to take care of her younger brother. As Princess Charlotte continues to mature, her personality shines through more and more. She is also gaining recognition for her uncanny resemblance to her late grandmother Diana during her younger years.

According to some royal experts, Princess Charlotte displays characteristics not unlike her much-loved, much-missed grandmother, Princess Diana. Diana had genuine care for others, and it seems that Charlotte has inherited that quality.

William and Kate want to ensure that all their children get the best possible opportunities in life. Their children are already beginning to understand their life as royals and what it means.

Though there are bound to be occasions when George, Charlotte, and Louis aren’t on their best behavior, the children have previously been praised for their conduct while out on royal engagements with their parents.

The coronation was no exception. While Prince Louis couldn’t resist a few mischievous moments, Princess Charlotte displayed remarkable composure and poise, exhibiting her natural grace and maturity during the event.

Prince George executed his role with great skill and proficiency.

But according to royal commentator and author Tom Quinn, William and Kate had some concerns before the big celebrations this past weekend.

They worried that the pressure was going be too much for their children, thinking of Prince George in particular.

“I’ve heard from my contacts that there is a bit of an argument going on about whether George should play a more formal role,” he told the Express. “I’ve heard that Kate and William are worried that it will be too much for him.”

In the public’s eye, Prince George is not the only royal child that has become very popular. Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis also have gotten their fair share of public exposure – even if it hasn’t always been positive. In Harry’s memoir, Spare, the Duke claimed that he feared for their future and the fact that they might end up like him… a spare.

It goes without saying that Princess Charlotte will continue to be in the public spotlight. But, will she even be a working royal in the future? According to royal expert Richard Eden, William and Kate are raising her with the expectation that she won’t be a full-time working royal – but rather that she will have to work for a living.

“From what I hear, the Prince and Princess of Wales want Charlotte, aged seven, to grow up with the expectation that she will get a job and not be a full-time royal,” Eden told the Mirror.

“This path for the young Princess would be in keeping with her grandfather, King Charles III’s, vision for a slimmed-down monarchy.”
