Martha Stewart, Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover model, has a thing or two to say to the critics of her historic cover, “I’ve had absolutely no plastic surgery whatsoever.”
When the publication unveiled the four cover models, Stewart, 81, was praised for appearing on the cover in a low-cut white bathing suit. However, not everyone had something nice to say, and the icon noticed.
“There are only a few naysayers saying, ‘The pictures are over-retouched.’” she told Variety. “But they’re not. They are incredibly accurate pictures.”
Even though some are confident Stewart resorted to plastic surgery or had the pictures altered, she says she simply prepared ahead of time for the photoshoot.
“I had my regular facials but maybe more frequently and I also got a spray tan,” she said.
She also went to Pilates three times a week, stopped drinking alcohol, and watched what she ate.
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time the 81-year-old has been criticized for her looks.
Whenever she posts one of her viral thirst traps, she often receives comments accusing her of either having a lot of plastic surgery or airbrushing.
And to those people Stewart says, “Well, it’s not true. I’ve had absolutely no plastic surgery whatsoever.”
While the businesswoman and TV personality admits she has had “certain fillers” for a “little line here or there,” the rest is achieved by maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
“I have very healthy, good hair. I drink green juice every day. I take my vitamins. I eat very healthfully. I have very good skin doctors. I’m very careful in the sun. I wear hats and I wear sunblock every single day.”
Despite the naysayers, Stewart said she hopes others see the significance of her appearing on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
“What I hope I exude is ‘appealing,’” she told Today. “Because it says there might be some physical defects in terms of the ‘ideal’ woman, but I have nice legs, I have a good body, I have good skin.”
Those who have mean things to say are just jealous. I think Martha Stewart looks great, and I think it’s iconic that she’s on the cover of Sports Illustrated‘s swimsuit issue.
