As Meghan Markle’s estranged father faces disturbing allegations involving child sexual abuse images, his granddaughter says the investigation “doesn’t surprise” her because she always sensed something was “off.”
Thomas Markle, 82, is a retired Hollywood lighting director whose strained relationship with his daughter, Meghan Markle, has played out publicly since her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018.
Now living in the Philippines, the former royal father-in-law is at the center of a disturbing investigation after his son allegedly discovered suspected child sexual abuse material among his belongings.
According to Page Six, Thomas Markle Jr., 60, claimed to have found “hundreds, if not thousands” of suspected child sexual abuse images stored in several boxes, which he reportedly handed over to local authorities.
The allegations surfaced in late October, adding another deeply troubling chapter to the Markle family’s long-running public disputes.
‘Tom is trying to destroy me’
Thomas Sr. has strongly denied any wrongdoing, accusing his son of spreading false allegations in an attempt to destroy his reputation.
“I’m shocked, I’m hurt and I’m very upset that my son is making these accusations against me. It’s just a bunch of lies,” he told the Daily Mail. “It’s sick. I have no idea why Tom is trying to destroy me with these lies.”
According to reports, the investigation has also “deeply distressed” Meghan, 45, who has been estranged from her father for years.
But another family member has now offered a strikingly different reaction.
‘Something’s off’
Noelle Rasmussen, the daughter of Meghan’s half-sister Samantha Markle, told The Telegraph that she had long felt uneasy around her grandfather, even though she couldn’t explain why.
“Maybe it was a vibe that I subconsciously got…something’s not right about a person, and you don’t actively register it,” she told the outlet on Oct. 27.
“But your body tells you when something’s off,” she continued.
Reflecting on the allegations, Rasmussen admitted that her reaction had surprised even herself.
“It doesn’t surprise me. The more and more I think about it, it just doesn’t…I don’t know why it’s not a surprise.”
Supports Meghan
Although she described the allegations as disturbing, Rasmussen emphasized that she had never personally experienced abuse at her grandfather’s hands.
“I’m glad that I had never been victimized or had the chance to be victimized,” she said, adding that she couldn’t assume what another person might be capable of.
Rasmussen also expressed support for Meghan’s decision to keep her children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, away from their grandfather.
“I support her decision to prevent her kids from seeing him. I wouldn’t want my kids around somebody who was being accused of child molestation,” she told The Telegraph.
