New mom hears doctor screaming after birth, then looks at what babies are doing

Just seconds after Sarah gave birth to her twins, the OBGYN that had just delivered them couldn’t help but gasp when she saw what was before her.

It didn’t take long before the rest of the room realized that something wonderful and unusual had happened with this childbrth.

When Sarah and Bill Thistlethwaite found out that they were expecting twins they were ecstatic.

But the joy was quickly mixed with a feeling of worry when doctors discovered that the children were so-called monocorionic twins. This means that the babies are identical twins from one egg and share the same placenta and inner amniotic sack.

Great risks

Pregnancies like this one can be very risky, Sarah was hospitalized 57 days before the twins were delivered through a caesarean.

Sarah and Bill already had a son and were very excited about having two daughters. Two days before Mother’s Day 2014, it was finally time for the girls to come out and say hello to the world.

The girls were born with just 46 seconds between each birth and were both healthy and well.

As soon as the girls were out, the doctors held them up so that their mother could take a look at them. She could hardly believe her eyes when she saw that the two girls were holding hands.

“My heart just melted,” Sarah told PEOPLE. “Even my husband got tears in his eyes — I don t know that anybody in the room had a dry eye.”

It has now been three years since Jenna and Jillian were born. Today, the two lively little girls have begun to develop their own personalities but they still have one thing in common: they love to hold hands.

The girls love to be together and never want to do anything without each other.

Thanks goodness the unusual pregnancy went well. It’s really lovely to see how Jenna and Jillian have grown.
