New details have emerged following the sudden death of fitness guru Richard Simmons.
TMZ reports that the night before his untimely death, the 76-year-old fell in his bathroom and was urged to seek medical attention. He refused, but said he would consider going the following day.
The next day he was found unresponsive.
Simmons reportedly fell in his bathroom Friday night. According to reports, Simmons claimed to have felt dizzy before falling.
His housekeeper helped him get up and insisted he get medical attention, but Simmons did not want to leave his house the night of his birthday. Instead, he would consider going to a doctor Saturday.
He was helped into bed, and that’s the last time anyone heard from him.
Simmons died in his Los Angeles home on Saturday, July 13, one day after his 76th birthday.
His housekeeper found him on the floor next to his bed around 10 am Saturday morning. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police did not suspect foul play.
An autopsy was completed, but his official cause of death has been deferred, meaning an investigation involving additional testing is needed before a definitive cause of death can be given.
One week before his 76th birthday, the “Sweatin’ to the Oldies” host told People he was “grateful” to be “alive for another day” following a skin cancer diagnosis, which he shared with fans in March 2024.
We love you, Richard! You will be deeply missed.
