Trump roasts reporter with savage 5-word comeback

In classic Donald Trump fashion, the President of the United States delivered a brutally dismissive one-liner that’s quickly gone viral.

Following a Capitol Hill meeting with GOP lawmakers, Trump paused to speak with the press about his so-called ”beautiful bill.

Stopped to speak with reporters

Donald Trump is never one to hold back, and during a fiery moment on Capitol Hill this week, he served up another viral one-liner that’s got the internet talking.

Fresh off what he described as a “beautiful bill” meeting with fellow Republicans on Tuesday (May 20), the former president stopped to speak with reporters. But things took a sharp turn when one journalist asked a pointed question — and revealed where he worked.

“Andy Harris said that you didn’t adequately convince enough people to vote for the bill?” the reporter asked.

Instead of answering, Trump first asked who the reporter worked for. When the journalist responded with “NOTUS,” the president fired back without missing a beat:

“Who? I don’t even know what the hell that is. Get yourself a real job.”

“Another banger, I fear”

NOTUS, for the record, is a Washington-based nonprofit media outlet that describes itself as “a new Washington publication from the nonprofit, nonpartisan Allbritton Journalism Institute.”

The publication, funded by grants and donors, prides itself on covering U.S. politics through a mix of veteran reporters and up-and-coming journalists.

Still, Trump wasn’t impressed — and neither were his critics.

The clip, which exploded on Twitter (X), drew all kinds of reactions. One user posted: “Another banger, I fear.”

One person said: ”Would be nice if he spoke to Putin that way”.

Another commented: “Trump’s dismissal of the NOTUS reporter shows his contempt for smaller media outlets.”

A third simply wrote: “Classic Trump.”

A fourth shared: ”Trump just ended that reporter’s career in one sentence. This is why the fake news hates him. He exposes them in front of the whole country.”

More viral moments

But that wasn’t the only viral Trump moment making waves.

In March, if you remember, the former president was involved in an awkward on-air moment when a microphone extended too close to his face during a broadcast.

As the fuzzy mic slid across his mouth, Trump leaned back and glared at the reporter in front of him.

Without missing a beat, Trump quipped: “She just became a big story tonight… She just made television tonight.”

At first, he looked visibly irritated — but moments later, he raised his eyebrows and chuckled, clearly amused by the whole situation.

Love him or loathe him, Trump’s off-the-cuff remarks and headline-making one-liners are as sharp as ever. And whether he’s roasting media outlets or calling out technical mishaps mid-interview, one thing’s for sure — he always knows how to make “television tonight.”
