Donald Trump and his administration have had several highly stressful and consequential days.
The bombing of Iran’s nuclear sites prompted a back-and-forth involving Israel and Iran, while at the same time, the president traveled to Haag, Netherlands, to attend the NATO summit.
However, while taking a picture alongside other world leaders, social media erupted with one rather crazy question. Was it Trump who attended – or was it a body double?
Donald Trump’s week has had a huge focus on Iran. Last weekend, the US bombed three nuclear sites in the country, and while the reports regarding the operations success differ, it certainly shook the world. Israel and Iran were actively bombing each other, and after a brief respite when Trump announced a ceasefire between the two nations, the attacks continued.
For now at least, the ceasefire appears to be holding, but what will happen in the coming week is unknown. Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Trump left the US for the Netherlands to attend the NATO Summit in The Hague.
Unsurprisingly, the gathered heads of state have a lot to discuss. Trump has put pressure on a number of NATO member states regarding their commitment to European security for years.
The POTUS has pushed member states to spend five percent of their GDP on defense and has threatened to pull American troops out of Europe and relocate them to other parts of the world. Moreover, during a visit to NATO in February, Trump’s Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, said European leaders “should take primary responsibility for the defense of the Continent.
“He’s been saying Europeans need to step it up for a long time, and now everyone agrees. Europeans realize they will no longer be able to rely on the protection of the US military umbrella,” NPR reporter Eleanor Beardsley explained.

How Trump will feel about the mutual defense guarantees outlined in the NATO treaty moving forward is not known. Speaking to the press before arriving in The Hauge, he raised uncertainties about being able to guarantee that it will be upheld but concluded that he’s “committed to being their friends” and “saving lives.”
While the President of the United States shared the room with 32 NATO leaders during the day in The Hague, plans differed when it came to nightly arrangements. At first, Trump was reportedly set to stay at a hotel during his trip to the Netherlands, but that plan was canceled. Instead, he received a significant royal upgrade.
On Tuesday night, Trump attended a dinner at the Huis Ten Bosch Palace close to the city, hosted by Dutch King Willem-Alexander. But he reportedly didn’t leave when dinner was finished, as the king invited him to spend the night at the castle.
“President Trump has accepted King Willem-Alexander’s invitation to spend the night at Huis ten Bosch in The Hague,” a White House official who remained anonymous told AP. “This is a historic event – marking the first time an American President will stay at the King’s residence.”
King Willem Alexander and Queen Maxima both appeared in a picture with the 32 NATO leaders before heading to dinner at their palace. However, one detail left social media baffled.
Donald Trump ‘body double conspiracy’
On Tuesday evening, X account TheRubberDuck79 posted a video of the NATO leaders claiming that it’s not Trump in the video – but a body double.
“POTUS sends ‘mini-TRUMP’ to The Hauge to meet ‘suited’ Zleensky & friends,” the caption read.
While the post added some humorous insights, the comment section continued to speculate whether it was Trump or not.
“I’ve never seen him smile like that,” one user wrote.
“That… that is not Trump,” another added.
“This is so creepy,” a third added, while a fourth noted, “Dangerous time for him, glad if he did, send a double.”
Some users chose to focus on Trump’s height, noting that it doesn’t match his actual height.
“Erdogan and King Alexander appear to be wearing platform (DeSantis) shoes. They are both 3 inches shorter than President Trump,” one comment read.
“When I saw a video from earlier today I was wondering why he was so much shorter,” a second added while a third claimed, “Obviously not the real one. Not tall enough. Loved the people noting he’s in multiple places at once.”
Moreover, one user stated that it was ‘creepy.’
“Sad that people are this stupid.”
But not everyone was convinced. Some users stated that it’s clearly Trump in the picture and not a body double.
“Those are definitely Trumps thumbs, I always notice them because they look just like my husbands, they kind of curve backwards when he does,” one said.
“I think he just looks short here because the King of the Netherlands is 6’5. Let’s not get carried away,” a second explained.
A third simply stated, “Sad that people are this stupid but not surprising,”
