A grief-stricken father whose daughter was murdered weeks after she had graduated college has detailed four “eerie” things that happened in the wake of her passing.
Bill Mitchell’s daughter Kristin, 21, had just graduated college on a food marketing scholarship in 2005, winning a job at food manufacturer General Mills. On the day of her graduation, she introduced her new boyfriend, Brian David Landau, to her parents.
Bill revealed on a recent podcast that Brian, then 27, immediately gave off concerning vibes. He described his daughter’s boyfriend on the What Was That Like podcast as someone he would “never want to tangle with.”
“I probably only had that feeling a few times in my life,” he said.
“That’s not a common thing for me to meet somebody at that place,” he added, saying it was a “premonition [he] should have followed up somehow.”
Tragically, 30 days after his daughter’s graduation, Bill received word that she had been murdered in her apartment in Conshohocken, PA, after telling Brian she wanted to break up with him. She had been stabbed a total of 55 times.

Brian eventually pleaded guilty to third-degree murder, and was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Looking back at the aftermath of the heartbreaking incident that claimed his daughter’s life, Brian has gone on record to reveal a series of ‘strange’ occurrences took place in the weeks after Kristin’s death.
Firstly, Bill and his wife Michele decided that they didn’t need to keep Kristin’s cell phone active after her passing. Prior to her number being retired, Bill and Michele were informed that it would be given to someone else in around two months’ time.
“I was able to discover that Kristin’s number was retired or suspended in late June of 2005, and came back out in late August of 2005,” Bill explained.
In a remarkable coincidence, it was Kevin Welsh – a jeweller also experiencing domestic abuse – who ultimately received Kristin’s old number. The Mitchell family knew Kevin, since he’d previously been commissioned to make a locket with Kristin’s hair inside.
Recalling the moment he heard that Kevin had received Kristin’s cell number, Bill confessed: “Here’s the guy who has this abusive relationship going on, needs to get his number changed, and of all the numbers that could possibly go back out that day around that time, the guy – who had such a connection to this girl who was murdered by her boyfriend – wound up with her number.
“I don’t even know if you’d call it a coincidence. I mean, it’s just what it was.”

Not only that, but Bill claims to have witnessed a ‘lot of strange’ technical occurrences around the house in the weeks after his only daughter’s death. Supposedly, as many as nine light bulbs blew up in their family home.
“I kept thinking: ‘I gotta go get another light bulb and put it in that lamp over there.’ Then, a few hours later, we would go into some other room and the light would blow out,” he explained. “It was ridiculous.”
Furthermore, the family’s cars refused to respond when turned on.
“There was, like, some electrical thing going, and three of our four cars wouldn’t start for a day,” he said.
“Then, the next day they’d start. So, there was a lot going on.”
Bill also reflected on an “eerie” dream he had after Kristin’s death, one where his daughter approached him at a county fair.
“She came up and we didn’t say anything very much because it’s, kind of, understood,” he said.
“’Wow, it’s so great under the circumstances to see you’ is what I was trying to put out to her, and she gets it.”
Since that first dream, Kristin has reportedly continued to visit Bill in his sleep, including once at a motel setting, another time at a marketplace, and even once where Philadelphia practitioners saved her from her fate.
Bill said: “It was amazing. At the end of the dream, all I wanted to do was to get her back and reintroduce her to her mother and David. I mean, that was seriously as real as me sitting talking to you right now.”
