Moment Keith Urban interview ends abruptly after he’s asked about Nicole Kidman’s sex scenes

After 19 years of marriage, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have reportedly called it quits – but it’s a tense on-air moment involving the country crooner and his wife’s steamy sex scenes that’s really fueling the buzz.

For nearly two decades, Nicole Kidman, 58, and Keith Urban, 57, were seen as one of Hollywood’s most stable power couples – effortlessly balancing A-list fame with a seemingly grounded relationship. But cracks eventually surfaced, and on Sept. 29, People confirmed that the couple, who tied the knot in 2006, had officially split.

“Their lives were moving in different directions, and once he quietly set up his own place, it felt like the writing was on the wall,” a source told the outlet of Urban moving out.

Though the couple was photographed together as recently as June at a FIFA Club World Cup game — and even shared affectionate posts about each other on social media – an insider revealed that “it really hasn’t been a secret in their circles that Keith and Nicole have been living separately for a while now.” According to the source, “People close to Keith felt like the split was kind of inevitable.”

Urban’s move out of their shared home reportedly marked a major turning point – but behind the scenes, Kidman – who was previously married to Tom Cruise – has been desperately trying to hold things together.

“She didn’t want this. She has been fighting to save the marriage,” another source shared with People.

Kidman’s steamy roles

While no official reason for the separation has been confirmed, fans are buzzing, suggesting that Kidman’s racy on-screen roles might have added to the tension.

In recent films like 2024’s A Family Affair and Babygirl, the mother of four dives into steamy love scenes with younger co-stars Zac Efron, 37, and Harris Dickinson, 29 – even revealing that filming with Dickinson left her so “turned on” she had to stop shooting and take a break.

“There were times when we were shooting where I was like, ‘I don’t want to orgasm anymore. Don’t come near me. I hate doing this,” the Aussie actor, refreshingly candid, told the Sun.

“I’m over it. It was so present all the time for me that it was almost like a burnout.”

Despite the openness, the Eyes Wide Shut actor claimed in a previous interview that her husband “really doesn’t know what’s going on” while filming, suggesting he was largely unaware of the graphic nature of her scenes.

‘Wall of Truth’

During a live Zoom appearance on July 1, 2025, on Australia’s Mix 102.3 show “Hayley & Max in the Morning,” Urban made his feelings clear when talk turned to his wife’s steamy on-screen moments.

The interview began on a light note, with the Grammy-winning singer expressing his excitement about his upcoming show at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Aug. 28, calling it “just a good vibe in the audience.”

But things quickly took a turn when hosts Hayley Pearson and Max Burford shifted gears, asking him to take part in the show’s no-holds-barred “Wall of Truth” segment.

“When I was coming up with something to ask you, Keith Urban, if you happen to play this game, the first thing I thought of, with your beautiful wife Nicole Kidman being in so many great movies, TV shows all the time, I watched a movie with her and Zac Efron recently, A Family Affair,” Buford started.

“Oh yeah, that’s a good one,” the “Somebody Like You” singer replied, per Billboard.

‘He hates us’

“What does Keith Urban think when he sees his beautiful wife with beautiful younger men like Zac Efron having these beautiful love scenes on TV and radio?” Burford asked before the line grew silent.

“What just happened here?” the co-host asked as someone explained that he “disconnected from Zoom.”

“I think his team hung up on us because they didn’t want us to ask that question,” the voice said. “He’s gone, see you, Keith.”

“He doesn’t like talking about his wife … because it’s private. I knew that would happen. I hate myself,” Pearson said before adding, “He hates us.”

‘Complete nothingburger’

Though it appeared like a furious response from Urban himself, a statement to People from his team denied that he was the one who ended the call: “Keith did not hang up, period,” a tipster told the outlet. “He doesn’t host his Zoom interviews. This is a complete nothingburger.”

Still, a different source insisted that the call was dropped by the singer, who “is clearly not happy about what Nicole is doing.”

“His very visible anger on that Zoom call has sent talk into overdrive that the couple is at a breaking point unless Nicole gives up sex scenes,” the insider shared, adding, “They clearly send him mad with jealousy.”

Still, the timing of the drop – combined with the steamy roles and separation rumors – has left fans and media speculating on whether Kidman’s increasingly provocative film choices may have played a role in the couple’s breakup.
