18-year-old Kelly Mullooly lived a healthy and active lifestyle but was still diagnosed with bone cancer. She recently came in a video on YouTube for a channel titled The Patient Story to narrate her story. The channel is dedicated to showcase the stories of people who have cancer.

The teenager was a cheerleader who went to practice twice a week and was also a regular at the gym, she lived an overall healthy lifestyle.

She first began to notice something was amiss when she felt different after a session at the gym.

She recalled, “I was doing legs one day at the gym and like, I always get pretty sore from legs but I noticed like, a few days had passed and I was still, like very sore and I noticed my knee just feel a little bit off.”

She went on, “It wasn’t until like a few weeks had passed and I was still just having… like it wasn’t a constant, it was like an on and off pain, like mainly when I was like laying in bed.”

Kelly did not recover for weeks and it came to a point where she knew she had to seek medical attention for it. But when she sought professional medical advice, she was told, she was probably ‘overworked and overusing’ her knee.

Doctors told her not to worry about it and, while Kelly was worried about it she decided to believe them because she could still walk and partake in her cheerleading.

The pain did not go away so Kelly went back to the doctors for another check up. This time they did more tests and an MRI scan which revealed that she had a tumor. The 18-year-old was shocked since she had not been expecting such news.

After a few more appointments, Kelly was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, an aggresive type of bone cancer.

Kelly then began chemotherapy, and other treatments in tandem to deal with her tumor. However, the entire ordeal left her with uncertainty about her future plans.

She eventually had surgery to get the tumor removed and shared that she felt encouraged that she had made it through the entire thing,

There has been a GoFundMe set up to help Kelly and her family with the financial costs which have come with her diagnosis.

Share this with others so they can also wish Kelly well. Leaves comments in the comments section on Facebook.
