Rob Reiner, 78, was widely regarded as a legendary actor and director who later became a prominent political activist, while his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, was a photographer and film producer.
Now, devastating details have emerged about the horrific incident. According to The Mirror, authorities described the scene as a “horror double murder” involving what appeared to be stab wounds. Reportedly, the Hollywood figure and his wife were discovered dead in their home by their daughter, Romy.
Law enforcement sources told LA Times that a family member was interviewed in connection with the investigation.
One source familiar with the case, who was not authorized to speak publicly according to LA Times, said there were no signs of forced entry at the home. The source also indicated that the victims had injuries consistent with stab wounds.
The late Rob Reiner leaves behind his four children, Jake, Nick, and Romy, as well as Tracy who he adopted during his marriage to Michele Reiner.
His youngest child was his daughter Romy Reiner, born in 1997. The two shared a very close relationship with one another. Romy would often post pictures and videos with her father.
Her last post on her public Instagram account was with her father and some other family members. She posted snapshots of a vacation all of them had taken during the Thanksgiving holidays. In one of the pictures in the carousel, she posted on Instagram, Rob Reiner could be seen swimming in the beautiful water.
In May of this year, she posted an adorable video with her father, Rob, in which she asked him questions about getting older while the two talked about important life lessons he wished to impart and some of his films.
The late director clearly had a close and affectionate relationship with his youngest child.
Another video she posted last year, in October 2024, featured her giving her father a trim. In the comedic video, she asks him whether he would be willing to pay for her ‘Brazilian Butt Lift,’ often referred to as BBL. The duo exchange quips as she tells her father that her career has not taken off and that she believes a BBL will help it.
Now, Romy’s latest career move might be something that Rob Reiner will not be able to see. In her Instagram bio, she wrote about a short film she was both acting in and directing called ‘Here To Stay.’ The last update on the movie’s Instagram account was posted 4 weeks ago. It starred Romy Reiner as Audrey, Colin Coughlin as Will, and Frances Fisher as Joan. There is not much else known about the film yet, with no release date or other details set.
This is such a heartbreaking thing, to have both parents not being present for their daughter’s short film’s premiere because of their tragic murders.
