Kate Middleton has been trying out new styles over the years. A few months ago, she suddenly appeared to have dyed her hair blond, and this week, she did something she hadn’t done before, at least what we know of. During a royal outing, Kate suddenly transformed her hair into a plait – and royal fans can’t get enough.
Kate Middleton has alwauys been praised for her stylish outfits and appearance. Still, after all these years, she still manages to surprise royal fans. In September last year, while paparazzi were photographing the Princess of Wales in the Natural History Museum gardens with Prince William, she appeared to have dyed her hair.
Many praised her new style, but in fact, there was more to the story. She hadn’t dyed it or done anything else with it at all.

When attending the Royal Variety Performance at the Royal Albert Hall, Kate Middleton spoke to actress Su Pollard, who exclaimed, “I like your hair, it looks a lot lighter.” Per Hello Magazine, Kate responded, “It used to be brown, but it’s gone light in the sunshine.”
Kate Middleton unveils new bold look
Speaking with the Daily Mail, stylist Sarah Gadston explained, “After a sun-soaked holiday in Greece, Kate returned not only with a refreshed spirit but also with naturally lightened hair. The combination of sea air, sunshine, and saltwater had gently lifted her hair to a softer shade—creating the perfect starting point for her next salon visit.”
While Kate didn’t do anything special with her hair at that time, she has now. On Tuesday, the princess had several engagements in the North of England and during the final engagement of the day, she had switched up her usual formal attire. Isntead, Kate Middleton wore jeans, walking boots and a warm winter coat. But that wasn’t what fans reacted on.
Also, Kate had transformed her hair. Instead of her signature wavy look, she had her hair ina. plait, resting over her shoulder. The casual style drew many online praises for the Princess of Wales’ new hairstyle.
“Obsessed with her hair in a plait,” one person wrote on X, per Express.

A second added: “Wow love it.”
“That hair is absolutely stunning,” a third said, with a fourth stating, “Catherine’s hair is absolutely glorious.”
Expert says Kate “has practised”
Speaking with Hello! Magazine, Brett MacDonald from CULT Hairdressing said, “When the hair is twisted before rolling it up, wrapping closer to the head each time, it causes the hair to self-tighten and lock in the base”.
“It works particularly well with long hair and we, hairdressers, use it all the time on wet hair to secure it without clips or pins when leaving the basins,” he added. “I love the effortless elegance the Princess of Wales demonstrated, clearly showing that she has practised and applied it previously.”
