Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy, has been missing since Saturday. Local police are not ruling out that she was abducted from her own home. Now, it’s been revealed how Savannah and her sister learned of their mother’s disappearance.
Today cohost Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy, has not been seen since Saturday, January 31. She was last seen in her home in Catalina Foothills, north of Tucson, Arizona.
Police has had a search and rescue team searching for the 84-year-old both from the air and on the ground. On Monday, the Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanon confirmed that the case is now being treated as a criminal investigation.
He said he believes a “crime has been commited.”
“At this point, investigators believe she was taken from the home against her will, possibly in the middle of the night. Taken against her will includes possible kidnapping or abduction,” Nanos said.

“We have an 84-year-old woman who went to bed Saturday night and came Sunday morning; she’s gone,” the Country Sheriff continued. “We know, at least we believe, and I believe we know, she did not walk out of that home on her own.”
How Savannah Guthrie learned that her mother’s disappearance
Per Entertainment Weekly, Nanon shared more details about the timeline of Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance. On Sunday, Savannah and her sister, Annie, “got a call” from a friend of their mother’s from church, who noticed Nancy wasn’t there for the morning service.
“The family went to the house and they spent some time looking for her themselves before they called us,” Nanom said. “I’m guessing maybe they got there around 11. So they did some searching and realized, ‘We need some help’ and they called 911.”
Nancy Guthrie’s home is not declared a crime scene.
“We saw some things at the home that were concerning to us. She did not leave on her own, we know that,” Nanon continued, adding that the family “has been very coopertive.”

“Savannah has been in touch with us as well. Our hearts go out to them. This is their mom. She is just a great lady from what I’ve heard.”
Savannah Guthrie shares a plea for prayers
Savannah Guthrie was absent from the Today show on Monday, thanking everyone for their support. Later, on Instagram, the 54-year-old posted a picture with the caption, “Please Pray.”
“We believe in prayer. We believe in voices raised in unison, in love, in hope. We believe in goodness. We believe in humanity. Above all, we believe in Him,” Savannah Guthrie wrote.
“Thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant. Raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment.”
