Trump makes bombshell claim about NATO as he slams Greenland as “big, poorly run piece of ice”

Donald Trump has his hands full with the war in Iran. Meanwhile, the President of the United States has previously threatened to take Greenland by force. Now, Trump has made a bombshell claim about NATO as he once again attacks Greenland on social media.

The U.S and Iran have negotiated a 12-day ceasefire after the war had raged for more than a month. Meanwhile, Donald Trump has warned that US military forces will remain in and around Iran until “the real agreement is reached and fully complied with, as he warns of more conflict otherwise.

Several allies, including France, the UK, Spain, Germany, and the Netherlands, have refused to join the United States military campaign in Iran. Trump has called them out several times, while Secretary of War Pete Hegseth previously called their European allies “ungrateful” for resisting efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Moreover, the President of the United States has threatened to permanently withdraw from the military alliance. Now, Trump has once again attacked NATO. Following a private meeting with NATO’s Secretary General Marl Rutte at the White House, he took to Truth Social in rage.

“NATO WASN’T THERE WHEN WE NEEDED THEM, AND THEY WON’T BE THERE IF WE NEED THEM AGAIN,” Trump wrote.

The attack comes after the Rutte meeting, which lasted for over two hours at the White House on Wednesday. Speaking to CNN, the NATO Secretary General said he pointed out to Trump that “the large majority of European nations has been helpful with basing, with logistics, with overflights”.

He added that Trump was “very frank” and “very open,” despite the two parties’ obvious disagreements. The White House has not commented on the content of the meeting. However, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt echoed Trump’s words on NATO, saying that the alliance countries had “turned their backs on the American people,” who fund their nations.

She also stated a direct quote from Trump, who claimed NATO was “tested and they failed.”

Before Iran became a priority, Donald Trump threatened his NATO ally Denmark that the U.S could consider taking Greenland by force. The Trump administration has repeatedly stated that it needs the island for national security, while NATO allies have condemned his tone.

After the meeting with Mark Rutte, Donald Trump once again took a swing at Greenland. On Truth Social, the president wrote, “REMEMBER GREENLAND, THAT BIG, POORLY RUN, PIECE OF ICE!!!”
