Popular Danny Go! creator Daniel Coleman has announced that his teenage son, Isaac, has tragically passed away after a battle with cancer.
Coleman, a children’s YouTuber, shared the devastating news on Instagram on Friday, May 22, revealing that his beloved son had died the day previous, Thursday, May 21.
Isaac had previously been diagnosed with mouth cancer, which Coleman revealed in December of last year.
“To be honest, we always knew this day was coming, as it’s a near certainty with Fanconi Anemia,” he wrote at the time.
“But it’s definitely hitting a little earlier than we hoped and is still just such a shocking thing to hear about your child, even if you’ve braced for it for years.”
Isaac’s family had documented his health battles over the years as a result of a genetic disorder called Fanconi Anemia. According to the Cleveland Clinic, the condition prevents a sufferer’s bone marrow from making blood cells and platelets.
Babies with the disorder may have physical differences that are present at birth, and later may have a bone marrow failure syndrome that leads to blood cancer or blood disorders. They also may develop cancerous tumors earlier than people who don’t have Fanconi Anemia.
“Isaac Daniel Coleman. 10/3/11 – 5/21/26,” Coleman wrote the day after his son’s passing.
“Oh my sweet boy. There’s so much I want to say, but I don’t know how yet. I already miss you so much, and the pain in my heart is far more than I can process. But looking through thousands of pictures and videos this past week, I’m also filled with tremendous pride.
“Your 14 years were full of so many challenges, but you met them all with such grit…and you somehow kept your trademark joy in spite of it all. You truly had a spark like no other, Isaac!” he continued. “Remembering how loved you were and how full of life your time here was gives me great comfort. Being your dad was the honor of a lifetime. I’m so proud of you and I love you forever. Rest peacefully, son.”
Following the tragic diagnosis in December, Coleman told fans in February that Isaac’s cancer was aggressive and that his condition had worsened quickly. Doctors classified the 14-year-old’s cancer then as stage 3.
Rest in peace, Isaac.
