Lara Trump reveals reason why we hardly ever see Barron Trump

Lara Trump has revealed why Barron Trump has remained one of the Trump family’s biggest mysteries, despite knowing the public can’t seem to get enough of him.

As the only child of President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, Barron has spent much of his life under public scrutiny while remaining largely out of the spotlight.

Now 20, the New York University student rarely makes public appearances outside major family events, a sharp contrast to several of his older siblings, who have long embraced more visible roles in politics and business.

Much of that privacy can be traced back to 56-year-old Melania, who has repeatedly said she wanted to give her son as normal an upbringing as possible despite the extraordinary attention surrounding the Trump family.

Writing in her 2024 memoir, “Melania: A Memoir,” the first lady recalled worrying about the effect public life would have on Barron after his father entered politics.

“More than anything, I was concerned for my son, Barron. He was just a young boy, barely 10 years old. I dreaded the prospect of media scrutiny toward him,” she wrote, according to the Mirror.

“Our first year in politics only solidified my determination to shield my son from such unwanted attention. I anticipated that if Donald were to win, the media’s scrutiny, deceit, and mistreatment would only escalate.”

Although Melania worked to keep him out of the spotlight, public curiosity has only intensified as Barron has grown older.

‘He’s the sleeper’

The 6-foot-7 college student regularly trends on social media after making rare public appearances, while reports of his latest ventures – including becoming a co-founder and director of Florida-based beverage company SOLLOS Yerba Mate – have only fueled interest in the president’s youngest son.

That fascination recently found its way onto the podcast, The Right View with Lara Trump, where a listener asked Eric Trump’s 43-year-old wife what Barron is really like and whether he realizes so many people online seem captivated by him.

Lara said the family’s view of Barron is very different from the mystery the public sees.

“Barron is so cool. I feel like he’s the sleeper,” the podcaster said. “You want to hear more about Barron because you see less of him. And I think that’s kind of cool.”

She described Trump and Melania’s son as intelligent, funny and grounded, adding that it has been rewarding to watch him grow into adulthood.

“He’s such a smart kid. He’s a great kid. He’s funny. And it’s crazy because I’ve seen Barron grow up, which means I’m 160 years old. It’s really sad,” joked Lara, who married Eric Trump in 2014, eight years after Barron was born. “But he’s turned out to be a really great kid.”

She also said Barron is eager to finish college and start building his own career.

“And he’s excited to finish up college. I think he’s got two years left of college, but he’s excited to finish college and get out and work, which I love.”

‘Likes to play it cool’

While she isn’t sure Barron fully appreciates the level of attention he receives online, Lara said he is well aware that people are interested in him – which is “why he likes to lay low.”

“He knows what’s going on out there, he’s up on all of it,” she said. “I don’t know if he knows that the internet is obsessed with him. I think he knows there’s a lot of interest, but that’s why he likes to lay low. That’s why he likes to play it cool.”

“That’s why you don’t see him all the time,” she said, adding “Barron’s cool. Don’t sleep on Barron. He’s the best.”
