The brother of an executive assistant of Donald Trump has spoken out about the relationship between his sister and the president, calling it ‘unhealthy.’
Natalie Harp, the 35-year-old executive assistant to Donald Trump known among White House staff as “The Printer,” has become the subject of intense scrutiny after a new book revealed she left private handwritten notes in Trump’s personal spaces, including one seven words long that alarmed the Secret Service.
The seven-word-note read: “You are all that matters to me.” Other messages reportedly included “I don’t ever want to let you down” and “I want to bring you joy.”
The notes, written in 2023, are detailed in Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump by New York Times reporters Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan.
Author Michael Wolff, who has written several books about Trump, described them on a podcast as “love letters” and “mash notes” that put the Secret Service on alert. According to Wolff, agents warned aides they considered Harp “a potential danger to herself as well as to the president.”
Trump’s reported reaction was to tell others that Harp, unlike his other staffers, would “never leave me.” White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, on learning about the letters, allegedly said simply: “Where am I?”
Who is The Printer?
Harp follows Trump everywhere with a portable printer and battery pack so he never has to look at a screen, clips the printouts together with gold paper clips and also once ran behind his golf cart in Scotland to hand him positive news stories.
She sat behind him every day of his criminal trial. When a gag order prevented Trump from publicly attacking witnesses, she reportedly offered to post the attacks under her own name and go to prison on his behalf. “I’ll go to prison,” she announced to his legal team, who stared at her, according to Wolff, “as though she had three eyes in her forehead.”
She is also believed to be responsible for many of Trump’s late-night Truth Social posts, the ones that have prompted widespread speculation about the president’s mental state.
Harp first came to Trump’s attention in 2019 after sharing her story of surviving a rare bone cancer. She credits his Right to Try law with saving her life, spoke at the 2020 Republican National Convention and joined his staff in 2022.
Harp’s brother speaks out, calling relationship ‘unhealthy‘
Preston Harp has now spoken publicly about his sister’s relationship with the president for the first time, describing it as unhealthy but pushing back on the more salacious interpretations.
“Maybe it is because I just can’t imagine something like that, but to me this is 100 percent an infatuation based on an unfortunate shared ideology,” he told the Daily Beast.
He suggested the dynamic has roots in their upbringing, describing their father as emotionally distant and saying he believed his sister was looking for something in Trump that she never received at home.
Media critic Joanna Dougherty, however, put it more bluntly.
“She is fuelling his delusions,” she said. “She is providing him with endless praise that she prints out off random social media, and it’s all being put out in public, and she is with him round the clock.”
