Scarlet Vas played Mishti Sharma on the Australian soap Neighbours, but she is also famous for marrying her stepbrother, Tayo Ricci. Now she has announced they’re expecting their second child.
Scarlet Vas just shared big news to her 2.3 million followers on Instagram.
“The doctor called,” she wrote on Instagram alongside photos with husband Tayo Ricci and their daughter Silva. “Apparently we’re having another baby.”
The couple married in 2023 and welcomed Silva in December 2024.
While a lot of people have congratulated the couple on the pregnancy, some people are less charmed.
How the couple got together
Vas and Ricci have known each other since they were around 13. They met through mutual friends, whose families already knew eachother.
Their parents later began dating, making them stepsiblings.
When they went public with their relationship in 2020, they went viral almost immediately. Since they have no blood-relation, they decided to lean into the publicity, making the “dating my stepbrother” angle central to their content.
“We were about 13 years old when we first met through mutual friends,” Vas told news.com.au. “We’ve been together for 10 years. We didn’t set out to become influencers, it was never on our radar.”
The relationship has attracted a lot of negative attention
The relationship has attracted a fair share of negative attention over the years and continues to do so.
Vas and Ricci are genuinely unbothered, however.
“I don’t really read our comments section, but if I do, I actually laugh,” she said. “We find trolls very entertaining. If something’s really negative, we might comment back, we find it’s quite a good disarming tactic.”
