Trump insider spills claim about why Melania keeps disappearing from the White House

Melania Trump has once again found herself at the center of attention. A former White House official explained why the first lady has spent so much time away from Washington.

Melania Trump’s return to the White House after her husband won a second presidential term was widely discussed. The first lady was said not to want a return to the White House, at least not to do less of the work the title usually entails.

And well, that has become the reality. Melania Trump has made very few public appearances in President Donald Trump’s second term, and it has continued to attract attention.

Public appearances have indeed been relatively rare. An analysis by NBC News, published on August 17, found that Melania has appeared publicly about once every six days during Trump’s current term, with that dropping to roughly once every 12 days during the summer.

Melania Trump recently returned to the spotlight after being absent from public duties for more than a month, appearing in the White House Rose Garden for an event connected to her Fostering the Future initiative.

Why Melania Trump keeps disappearing from the White House

The first lady even appeared to acknowledge the attention surrounding her absence.

“I heard you missed me. Here I am,” she joked at the event.

So, what is the real reason why Melania Turmo is keeping such a low profile? Now, it might have gotten its answer.

Sarah Matthews, who served as deputy White House press secretary during Donald Trump’s first term, recently spoke about Melania’s low profile during an appearance on the On Sunday with Jack Cocchiarella podcast.

Even thugh matthews worked closely with the Trump administration, she claimed she had never actually met Melania.

Matthews said that despite working closely with the Trump administration, she never actually met the first lady.

“When I was working on the campaign for a year and then at the White House for the last seven months of the first admin, I met the vice president; I met almost every cabinet official. I met members of the first family; I met all of them at one point or another. The only person I never met was Melania Trump,” Matthews said on the On Sunday podcast.

“She thought the White House was old and falling apart”

“I never met the first lady, even though I was the deputy spokesperson for the president on his campaign and in the White House. And I think that’s pretty telling. That kind of sums it up, where it was this known thing that she was just not around, and she didn’t want to be around,” she continued.

Sarah Matthews further claimed Melania was not interested in spending much time around the White House. Despite efforts to renovate the White House residence, she wasn’t interested. According to Matthews, the first lady preferred life in New York and wanted to “do her own thing.”

“She didn’t want to stay at the White House,” Matthews claimed. “She thought the White House was old and falling apart, and she wanted to be in New York.”

Matthews also discussed reports that Melania has been paid for appearances at campaign events, saying she wondered whether the reported rate had increased following the recent attention surrounding the first lady.

“We know too that – it’s been reported – that Melania gets paid for showing up at events when they were on the campaign trail, which is crazy to think that you have to pay your own wife to show up somewhere,” she concluded. “I wonder if her rate has gone up after all of this news, because I’m sure she doesn’t like any of this being out there – whether or not it’s true.”

White House keeps silent

There has been no official confirmation of this, nor has Melania revealed why she chooses to spend less time at the White House. Still, the claims made by former White House deputy press secretary Sarah Matthews surely give us a hint into the mysterious life of Melania Trump.
