Ariana Grande delivered a cutting-edge performance while nursing an injury as she wrapped up her Eternal Sunshine tour that she previously called her “one last hurrah.”
When Ariana Grande walked off the stage at London’s O2 Arena on Sept. 1, she didn’t just close the curtain on a tour that had kept her performing for months – she was also preparing to retreat from the public eye.
“I don’t want to say anything definitive. I do know that I’m very excited to do this small tour, but I think it might not happen again for a long, long, long, long, long time,” Grande, 33, said in November 2025, months before her Eternal Sunshine tour, per Billboard.
She added, “I’m going to give it my all and it’s going to be beautiful. I think that’s why I’m doing it because I’m like, ‘One last hurrah!’”
And now that her “one last hurrah” has come to an end, Grande is following through on plans to step away from public appearances as “scrutiny” surrounding her health and body continues, according to her representative.
‘Ongoing scrutiny’ over health
“Ariana will be taking a step back from visibility after she completes the Eternal Sunshine Tour,” a representative told People in early August.
“She looks forward to finishing the tour and ending it on a high note, both healthily and happily, and then taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny,” the rep continued. “This tour has been a beautiful experience for her. She loves her fans and has loved every minute of this tour so much.”
Those concerns have followed the vocal powerhouse throughout a tour that has demanded considerably more from her physically than simply standing behind a microphone.
“She performs a very physical show, and there is a lot of athleticism involved. She performs healthily and successfully at a very high-level night after night,” a source close to the Golden Globe nominated star told People.
That demanding schedule became even more challenging during Grande’s final stretch in London when an injury forced her to make an unexpected change to her signature stage look.
‘Please do not fret’
The Wicked star revealed on Aug. 31 that she had suffered a deep cut to her foot, leaving her bandaged and unable to wear the towering heels and platform boots that have become a familiar part of her performances.
“My sweet petals, I wanted to let you know I will need to be in cozy footwear for this evening’s show (and possibly tomorrow’s) as I am bandaged up underneath, recovering from a minor injury,” she wrote on her Instagram Story, according to Extra.
“It is not a sprain or anything muscular but just a deep cut!” said Grande, who according to fans wore Ugg-style boots on stage for the Aug. 31 show. “So, when you see me tonight without my signature heels, or even possibly having a little trouble putting weight on that foot, that is why! But please do not fret.”
Another hitmaker
The Eternal Sunshine Tour started in June, taking the Grammy-winning artist through more than 30 performances across North America before she headed to London for a sold-out show on Sept. 1 at the O2 Arena.
The tour – her first in seven years – also coincided with another major moment in her music career. Grande released her album Petal on July 31, which reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200, while “Hate That I Made You Love Me” topped the Hot 100 and the album’s title track reached No. 4.
While Grande is now stepping back from public appearances, she isn’t disappearing from entertainment altogether. She is set to return to the big screen in Focker-in-Law, the next installment in the Meet the Parents franchise.
