Tiger Woods exits courthouse with Vanessa Trump, one odd detail stands out

Tiger Woods arrived at a Florida courthouse with Vanessa Trump by his side to face his March DUI arrest, but one detail about the couple’s appearance quickly stole the spotlight.

The 50-year-old golf legend arrived at the Martin County Courthouse in Stuart on Sept. 2 alongside his girlfriend Vanessa Trump, 48, with the couple walking past cameras without stopping to speak to reporters.

Vanessa, the ex-wife of Donald Trump Jr. and mother of their five children, has been dating Woods since 2025, with the golfer confirming their relationship publicly last March.

This time, however, she was accompanying him through a legal battle that had followed Woods for more than five months.

Sentence with ‘no exceptions’

Inside the courtroom, Woods abandoned his previous not-guilty plea and pleaded no contest after prosecutors reduced the charges stemming from his March 27 rollover crash near his Jupiter Island home.

According to Reuters, the DUI charge was dropped as part of the agreement, with Woods instead entering pleas to reckless and careless driving.

The deal spared him jail, but it will keep the 15-time major champion out of the driver’s seat for five years. In addition, Woods was ordered to pay about $1,500 in fines.

“There are no exceptions. If you were to drive for any reason at all, you would go immediately back to jail,” Judge Darren Steele told Woods, according to Reuters.

‘Several signs of impairment’

The case dates back to March 27, when Woods’ Land Rover collided with a truck towing a pressure-cleaning trailer before rolling onto its side.

Deputies responding to the crash said Woods – who had hydrocodone pills in his pocket – displayed “several signs of impairment,” including “bloodshot and glassy” eyes and “extremely dilated pupils, People reports.

After he refused to provide a urine sample, he was charged with a DUI and later pleaded not guilty.

Acknowledged ‘seriousness’ of situation

The crash also forced Woods to confront problems far beyond the courtroom.

Shortly afterward, the golf champ announced that he was “stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment” “toward lasting recovery.”

“I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today,” Woods said in a March 31 statement. “I am committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally.”

Vanessa’s ultimatum

But behind the scenes, his relationship with Vanessa had reportedly been shaken as well.

According to the Daily Mail, Vanessa viewed the incident as a “definite red flag.”

“She’s not happy at all,” a source told the outlet. “It’s a definite red flag and she told him that he’s going to get this sorted out, and that she’s going to require that. He has to get things under control, or she’s not going to stick around.”

Woods, who reportedly was “very apologetic” and “embarrassed,” subsequently traveled to Switzerland for inpatient treatment, where he was expected to spend several months before briefly interrupting his stay in May for a very different reason.

Vanessa – who divorced Donald Trump’s oldest child in 2018 – had revealed that she was undergoing treatment for breast cancer, and Woods reportedly returned to Florida to support her before traveling back to Switzerland to continue his own program.

By June, Woods was back in the United States, and on Sept. 2 it was Vanessa standing beside him as he faced the judge.

Yet their arrival outside the courthouse drew attention for something that had nothing to do with Vanessa’s health, or Woods’ the plea agreement.

‘Stony’ and ‘impassive’

Body language expert Judi James told The Mirror US that the couple appeared unusually disconnected as they made their way through the cameras, pointing to the absence of physical contact and their expressions at the courthouse.

“There’s no display of hand-holding togetherness here from Tiger and Vanessa,” James told the outlet. “He walks in ahead of her, wearing a stony, impassive facial expression with lips pulled down at the corners, while his eyes stare straight ahead as though oblivious of the cameras and crowds.”

James also focused on Woods’ posture, interpreting his raised head, chest and stride as an attempt to project confidence.

“His head is raised and his chest puffed as he affects a stride and arm-swing that might suggest a desire to appear confident, determined or fearless,” James explained.

“Vanessa’s facial expression looks equally grimly impassive here, although her eye expression is hidden from view behind a large pair of mirrored shades. She has her purse hanging on the inner shoulder with her hand resting on the chain, meaning she can avoid any affectionate touch or clasping rituals here.”

After months of reportedly supporting each other through personal struggles, their restrained courthouse appearance has quickly became a story of its own.
