Months after quietly welcoming her first child, fans are finally learning more about Lady Gaga’s baby girl, including the name that carries a special connection to her music.
The 40-year-old “Poker Face” singer and her fiancé, Michael Polansky, 42, recently became parents, with the news emerging after Page Six shared images of Gaga swaddling the baby close to her chest while walking with Polansky in Northern California.
At the time, few details about the child had been made public, leaving even the baby’s sex and name unknown.
The arrival adds a new chapter to a relationship that Gaga and Polansky have largely kept away from the spotlight since they were first linked around the start of 2020.
‘They are a great team’
The couple was photographed kissing at a New Year’s Eve party in Las Vegas before Gaga made their relationship Instagram official following Super Bowl weekend in Miami.
Their relationship continued to grow in the years that followed, with philanthropy becoming one of the interests they shared.
“Michael is very sweet and supportive,” a source previously told People. “He is hardworking as well, so he appreciates her focus. They are a great team.”
By 2024, the couple had taken another major step.
During the Paris Olympics that July, the star of Joker: Folie à Deux was speaking with then-French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal when she introduced Polansky as “my fiancé,” publicly confirming their engagement.
‘My next starring role’
While Gaga built a career around music, acting and some of pop culture’s most unforgettable performances, she had also made it clear that there was another role she hoped would eventually become part of her life.
During a 2025 appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Gaga spoke about the many things she still wanted for her future before singling out one in particular.
“All of these things are open. But what I really want is to be a mom. That’s my next starring role, I hope,” she told Colbert.
Speaking with the New York Times that same year, Gaga explained that she was “excited to be a mom.”
“I’m also kind of at war with myself sometimes as I get ready to, hopefully, become a mom soon. Like, today is wonderful, but the whole day has revolved around me,” she told the outlet “There’s an incredible amount of narcissism in this. How do I live a life where I’m passionate about my art while also making more space for other things?”
And it seems Gaga found that space, because a bit more than one year later, her life had changed in the way she had hoped.
Couple welcomes baby girl
According to a birth certificate obtained by TMZ, the “Shallow” singer and Polansky welcomed their baby girl, named Rose Bean Polansky, on June 9 at 11:19 p.m. at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
And her unusual name appears to carry connections to her famous mom’s musical history.
TMZ reports that Rose was inspired by “La Vie En Rose,” the Édith Piaf classic Gaga performed in the 2018 film A Star is Born.
The song clearly holds significance for Oscar-winning star: Gaga also has a large rose tattoo running down her spine that commemorates her performance.
And, her daughter’s middle name may carry another connection to a song closely associated with Gaga.
Bean is linked to singer and LGBTQ+ activist Carl Bean, whose 1977 song “I Was Born This Way” helped inspire Gaga’s own “Born This Way,” according to TMZ.
‘Special time with the baby’
Although Gaga and Polansky have kept their first weeks as parents private, a source told People that they took time away from work over the summer to spend with their daughter.
“Right now, she’s enjoying being away from the public eye and having this special time with the baby,” the source told the outlet. “Michael is great with the baby. They’re figuring everything out together. She doesn’t want to miss any of it.”
