Actor Chad Lowe and his wife Kim Painter have shared the devastating news that their 13-year-old daughter, Fiona, has died.
Chad Lowe and his wife, Kim Painter, a producer, released the heartbreaking statement on Tuesday. In a statement shared by Page Six, the family wrote, “We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona. She was a loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance.”
“She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives. Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time.”
The statement concluded, “If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, please reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.”
Chad Lowe, the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe, and his wife Kim are also parents to daughters Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 190.
Per Page Six, on Tuesday morning, parents at the school Fiona attended were sent an email from the principal, informing them of the 13-year-old’s passing.
“It is with deep sadness that I am calling you to advise you of the death of one of our students,” the email read. “Our sincere condolences go out to the student’s family, friends and teachers Counselors are available to meet with students and staff who may need emotional support during this difficult time.”

The cause of Fiona’s death has not been revealed. In November last year, in an Instagram post, Chad Lowe made a post about his daughter to honor her birthday.
Together with a picture of her smiling and wearing cowboy boots, her father wrote, “Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!! Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!”
Chad Lowe and his family were victims in the devastating Palisades fire. In a post in February 2025, the father shared a picture of his three daughters visiting what was left of their home. In one of the photos, his three daughters can be seen with their arms around each other.
“The way they’ve handled this whole devastating experience is nothing short of remarkable,” Chad Lowe wrote. “I am in awe of their spirit and resilience. Helping them navigate these tough times is my sole purpose. Being their dad is my life’s greatest joy and privilege.”
On the Still Here Hollywood podcast in August 2024, Chad Lowe discussed what it is like to be a girl dad.
Opened up about being a girl-dad
“It takes what I’ve known intellectually about women and all of equality and the glass ceiling that’s there, and how it’s a misogynistic world in a lot of ways, and it’s put it in my heart because I have three daughters,” he said. “So I look at the world, really, from their perspective.”
Still, Lowe admitted that while it was a fantastic thing, it wasn’t all “doom and gloom”. Mostly because he sees a society changing.
“So I see how we’re really becoming conscious of the role of women,” the actor continued.
Chad Lowe has been married to Kim Painter since August 2010. He was previously married to Hilary Swank. They split in january 2006 after eight years married.
