Hilary Swank, 52, has announced her pregnancy. The actress and her husband, Philip, are expecting a third child after welcoming twins three years ago, but many fans have reacted negatively due to her age. Now, Hilary Swank is hitting back.
Hollywood star Hilary Swank has shared the wonderful news. The two-time Oscar winner is expecting her third child at 52, three years after welcoming twins with her husband, Philip Schneider.
The Million Dollar Baby actress announced the happy news in a playful Instagram video featuring her husband and their three-year-old twins, Aya and Ohm. The family danced together in the dark with glow sticks attached to their bodies.
Towards the end of the clip, Swank revealed her growing baby bump, confirming that another little one is on the way.
“A lot of people have been asking what project I’m doing next; this one releases in December,” she wrote in the caption, revealing that the baby is due in December.
Hilary Swank and Philip Schneider married in August 2018. They became parents for the first time in April 2023, when they welcomed their daughter, Aya, and son, Ohm.
Many have questioned Hilary Swank’s decision to become a mother later in life. In the comment section of the original baby announcement article on the Newsner Facebook page, many questioned the Million Dollar Baby actress’ decision.
“She will be 70 when her kids graduate,” one commenter wrote.

“I’m 55. I have 4 grandbabies and 3 more on the way. Why anyone would want to become a mother at the time they should be experiencing the awesomeness of grandparenting is beyond my understanding!” a second wrote.
“I think it’s crazy for many many reasons. But whatever,” a third added.
“Why,” a fourth asked, while a fifth claimed, “That’s too old.”
Hilary Swank’s decision has raised many reactions. But now, she is hitting back.
In a clip from an upcoming October 20 interview with Drew Barrymore, the actress said, “There’s a lot of backlash women get for having children older but not men, which is interesting.”
Hilary then recalled a woman saying, “How dare you? You’re too old, and you won’t be old enough when your kids are older. My dad was my favorite person and he died when I was in my 20s, my early 20s and it’s just devastation.”

The woman later explained to Swank that she had been left heartbroken after losing her own father in her 20s, which was why she had commented. The actress and mother of two then explained she understood the feeling all too well, having lost her own father.
“My dad [has] also passed, but he was one of my favorite people on earth,” Hilary Swank told Barrymore.
Stephen Michael Swank died in 2021, seven years after his daughter put her acting career on hold to care for him.
Looking back, Swank said she would rather have experienced the pain of losing someone she loved so deeply than never have had that person in her life at all.
“I would rather be born and have that person that was my favorite person and experience that than not at all,” she said.
