Prince William and Kate Middleton marked Mountain Rescue Awareness Day by sharing a new photo of the entire family. Now, royal fans are all saying the same thing about the new family photo.
Prince William and Kate Middleton have had some very challenging years behind them. The Princess of Wales’ cancer diagnosis changed everything, but luckily, it had a happy ending.
Last year, Prince William and Kate Middleton moved from the four-bedroom Adelaide Cottage to the eight-bedroom Forest Lodge. But a few weeks ago, Prince William and Kate MIddleotn suddenly had one less person to cook breakfast for, as Prince George began his studies at Eton College, where he also lives.
Still, that doesn’t mean the whole family is gathering from time to time. That happened this weekend as the royals marked Sunday, October 25, Mountain Rescue Awareness Day with a special photo.
The photo shows William and Kate, alongside their three children, Prince George, 13, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8 — after the princess completed the National Three Peaks Challenge earlier this year.
George, Charlotte and Louis are pictured standing alongside mountain rescue volunteers and a dog. The family met the rescue teams in June, when Kate took on the National Three Peaks Challenge.
The 44-year-old future queen climbed the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales in less than 24 hours to raise money for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

In her message, Kate thanked the volunteers for their hard work and dedication to keeping walkers and climbers safe.
“On Mountain Rescue Awareness Day, we send our heartfelt thanks to all those who volunteer their time and expertise to keep people safe in some of our most beautiful but challenging landscapes,” the message read, signed “W & C,” for William & Kate.
“Through our connection with this remarkable organisation, we have seen first-hand the dedication, professionalism and compassion that define their work.”
“Meeting local mountain rescue teams during the Three Peaks Challenge this summer was an opportunity to say thank you in person for the vital role they play in keeping walkers and climbers safe on the mountains all year round.”
“We are incredibly proud to support the extraordinary volunteers who respond in all conditions, often at a moment’s notice, to help others when they need it most. To everyone across the mountain rescue community, thank you for your unwavering commitment, courage and service.”
The Prince and Princess of Wales concluded the post, “Meeting local mountain rescue teams during the Three Peaks Challenge this summer was an opportunity to say thank you in person for the vital role they play in keeping walkers and climbers safe on the mountains all year round,” she wrote.
Praised for honoring others’ work
The challenge held special meaning for Kate, who announced in January 2025 that her cancer was in remission.
In the comments, Royal Fans praised the picture, saying how wonderful William and his family look. Moreover, the Prince and Princess of Wales and their family were honored for not highlighting their own work, but others’.
“So cute, What a beautiful picture,” one user wrote on Instagram.
A second added, “What a beautiful picture and message! Thank you for this great surprise”.
“Wonderful recognition for all the volunteers who risk their lives to rescue others. Thank you to them all,” a third wrote, while a fourth added, “What a lovely way to support and bring light to these incredible people!”
A fifth simply stated, “You always highlight other people’s work & never yourselves,” while a sixth exclaimed, “What a beautiful photo! Thank you for acknowledging the support and guidance of these amazing people!”
