Taylor Red singer Nicole Taylor dies at 35

Country music fans are mourning the loss of one of their own.

Nicole Taylor, one of the three identical sisters behind the country trio Taylor Red, has died at just 35.

Her sisters shared the heartbreaking news, revealing that Nicole passed away on September 28 after a four-year battle with breast cancer.

In an emotional Youtube video shared on Monday, Nicole’s sisters and fellow Taylor Red members, Natalie and Nika, fought back tears as they announced the heartbreaking loss of their sister.

“This isn’t a video we ever thought we’d be making,” they said.

“We thought she’d be here sharing her story of earthly healing. Instead, we’re sharing her story of heavenly healing and she’s at peace and no longer suffering, so we’re thankful for that.”

The sisters admitted they were still trying to process the loss, describing their hearts as broken.

The fearless leader of three sisters

Nicole and her sisters grew up together in Mississippi before pursuing music as Taylor Red, a country group that found an audience through songs including Country Money and Rent Free, as well as their popular social media videos.

The group built a huge following online, with more than 16 million followers on YouTube and over 13 million on TikTok.

Nicole was the oldest of the three triplets, born just one minute before Natalie and two minutes before Nika.

But her sisters said she had always been much more than the oldest sibling.

She was their fearless leader, their best friend and the person who always stood up for what she believed was right.

In a tribute shared on their website, Natalie and Nika wrote:

”Nicole, the oldest of us three sisters, will be greatly missed. She was our leader and our best friend. We are heartbroken, but we know she is in Heaven and will see her again.”

The sisters also remembered how Nicole was always the one to speak up for them and stand by their side.

”She was always the one who would speak on behalf of us,” they said.

”She was the first to give her life to Christ. She would always speak up for what’s right.”

A devastating diagnosis

Nicole’s cancer journey began in 2022, when she received a phone call from a hospital nurse with the results of her biopsy.

Her sisters remembered the moment vividly. They had been together when the call came, and Natalie recalled realizing that the news was likely going to be serious.

“The nurse was like, ‘Do you have any family with you?’ And so we kind of knew where the conversation was headed.”

Natalie said she was overwhelmed by shock when they learned Nicole had breast cancer.

”I just remember breaking down in absolute shock,” she said.

”I was just so surprised. We’ve been blessed with good health our whole life so this was a big shock and it wasn’t what we were expecting. I was crying and ran out to the hallway to tell Nika and I just remember Nicola said, ‘God’s going to use this for his glory.’”

For a time, there was hope

Nicole was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer, described by her sisters as a particularly aggressive form of the disease.

But even after receiving such frightening news, she tried to remain positive. She believed God would carry her through the battle, and her sisters said she faced the challenge with remarkable fearlessness.

For a time, there was hope. They were told she was responding well to treatment, but the cancer eventually progressed to stage four.

After undergoing a serious operation, Nicole began treatment again. Her sisters described that period as ”really scary”.

Sadly, despite the doctors’ efforts and the love and support surrounding her, Nicole’s cancer battle came to an end. She passed away on September 28.

A private funeral has already taken place, while a memorial page has been created where fans can donate to causes close to Nicole’s heart.
