As U.S. midterm election results rolled in, Donald Trump lashed out at Fox News, calling host Jessica Tarlov “DUMB AS A ROCK” and sending an angry text to her colleague before she fired back amid a sweeping Democratic victory.
On Nov. 3, Americans headed to the polls in elections that would determine control of Congress, with Democrats gaining ground as Republicans struggled to defend their majority.
As the results unfolded, Trump unleashed his fury on Truth Social, first targeting Jessica Tarlov, co-host of Fox News’ The Five, in a blistering personal attack.
“Watching the Pre-Election Results on FoxNews, but I can’t stand Jessica Tarlov’s voice – DUMB AS A ROCK, but it’s the voice that gets me,” he wrote at 5:25 p.m. “Have to go somewhere else until that LOSER is off the air – I’ll be back later!”
The president then turned his anger toward the network’s election polling.
“The Fox News Poll, always the worst, is so insulting with the questions they ask,” the POTUS fumed at 6:36 p.m. “Every question is a hit job, and every answer is ‘BULLS***!’”
As Republican losses mounted, Trump went further, blaming the entire network for the party’s defeat.
“Fox News bears responsibility for these losses by constantly and consistently putting on the Dumocrat opposition, and worse,” he wrote in another post.
Trump texts Fox on live TV
Trump’s attacks soon took an awkward turn when he texted Greg Gutfeld, who was live on-air at the time, co-hosting The Five with Tarlov.
“You wouldn’t believe this one I got from somebody called the president!” Gutfeld said, before reading the text out loud.
“’Greg, tell Tarlov, who is the WORST,’” Gutfeld read, emphasizing Trump’s capitalization. “’Gas prices are lower than they were for Biden and Obama and they allowed Iran to have the nuclear bomb.’”
“‘Furthermore, I inherited the worst prices and inflation in history from Sleepy Joe,'” the text continued. “‘Prices are heading down FAST.’”
But he wasn’t quite done.
Later that night, he called into Fox News’ live coverage around midnight and attacked its polling again.
“You ought to get yourself a good pollster, because your pollsters are the worst,” Trump told the network, according to USA Today.
Tarlov fires back
Tarlov, however, wasn’t letting the president’s insults go unanswered.
“I realize my comments highlighting the highest gas prices on any Election Day aggravated the president, but reality is a tricky thing, and he should get better at dealing with it,” she wrote on X at 7:02 p.m.
As the election results increasingly favored Democrats, Tarlov’s social media posts took a more celebratory turn.
“Libbing out so hard i can’tttttt handle this!!!” she posted.
Less than an hour later, Tarlov delivered one final jab, sharing a photo of a television screen declaring “Democrats gain control,” alongside her cheeky two-word caption, “Hello Gorgeous.”
