The 19-year-old granddaughter of President Donald Trump has been linked to University of Miami football player Jake Weinberg in recent weeks as online rumors sparked speculation that the two could be more than just friends.
The speculation reportedly began in October, when people started discussing the pair’s relationship on social media, per Page Six. The rumors gained even more attention after Kai and Jake were reportedly spotted at the same restaurant in Palm Beach, Florida. However, there is no indication that the meeting was romantic.
Both Kai and Jake attend the University of Miami, though they play different sports. Donald Trump Jr.’s daughter, Vanessa Trump, joined the university as a freshman in 2026 and plays on its women’s golf team.
Meanwhile, Jake Weinberg plays kicker for the Miami Hurricanes football team after spending two seasons at Florida State University.

While the rumors about her and Jake attracted attention, Kai has previously spoken about the challenges of dating while living under constant Secret Service protection.
During an appearance on Logan Paul’s podcast in January 2026, she admitted that having security nearby during dates can make things uncomfortable. Going on dates with Secret Service protection around her can be “awkward.”
“To be honest, it’s really awkward when you’re … going on a date with a guy and they’re two tables behind you. It’s a little weird,” she said during a January 2026 appearance on Logan Paul’s podcast.
“I try my best to not let it bother me and I think I’ve learned, especially the past year now … to [know] yes, they’re following me, but also focus and pretend like they’re not there,” she added.
Kai Trump also said she’s learned to focus on the person she is with rather than the agents around her. And as the dating rumors swirl, she has decided to speak out.

Her representatives have addressed the rumors and made it clear where things stand between the two college students.
According to TMZ, a representative for Kai confirmed in early November that she and Jake are not dating.
“Kai and Jake are just friends and they are NOT dating,” the representative told the outlet.
The romance speculation comes at a difficult time for Kai’s golfing career. The 19-year-old’s first season playing college golf at the University of Miami has not gone quite as planned.
In October, she revealed that she had undergone surgery in New York to repair a wrist injury sustained during her first tournament of the season. Kai shared the news on Instagram, posting a selfie of herself lying in a hospital bed with her wrist in a cast.

“While I had hoped to avoid surgery, after talks with my family, coaches, and athletic training staff I know I made the best decision for my long-term health and my future in the game I love,” she wrote.
She admitted that the injury was “certainly not how I envisioned the next few months,” but said she was determined to face the unexpected setback with patience.
“Sometimes the journey takes an unexpected turn, and I’m choosing to embrace this one with patience, and a whole lot of determination,” Kai continued, stating that her recovery would “take time.”
She also thanked her teammates, coaches, and family for their support, along with Dr. Michelle Carlson at New York’s Hospital for Special Surgery and the hospital’s medical team for taking such good care of her.
Despite the setback, Kai made it clear that she remains focused on getting back to the sport she loves.
