Bridget Fonda, 62, spotted during rare LA outing

After walking away from Hollywood more than two decades ago, Bridget Fonda, 62, has resurfaced in Los Angeles, revealing her dramatic transformation during a rare public outing.

Bridget Fonda, who once shared the screen with some of Hollywood’s biggest names, was photographed running errands on Nov. 1, looking slimmer than she did in earlier public appearances.

Dressed casually in black pants, a gray top and an oversized yellow shirt, the retired actor – who once described herself as a “shy person” – paired her outfit with white sneakers and wore her grayish hair pulled back from her face, according to People.

The sighting follows reports that Fonda has lost approximately 100 pounds in recent years, although she has not publicly confirmed her weight or discussed how her appearance has changed.

Bridget Fonda’s movies

But long before her rare appearances became celebrity news, Fonda was a familiar face on movie screens throughout the 1990s.

She starred in the psychological thriller Single White Female alongside Jennifer Jason Leigh and appeared in films including Point of No Return and Quentin Tarantino’s Jackie Brown, building a successful career despite the considerable expectations attached to her famous surname.

After all, acting was the family business.

Ordinary childhood

Her father, Peter Fonda, became a counterculture icon with Easy Rider, while her superstar aunt, Jane Fonda, earned two Academy Awards. Her grandfather, Henry Fonda, also won an Oscar for On Golden Pond in 1982.

Despite growing up among Hollywood royalty, Fonda has insisted her childhood was far more ordinary than outsiders might expect.

“People imagine that I was dumped in the corner of a series of drug-fuelled orgies, and that we were like savages in the bush,” she told The Guardian in 2000, “but it wasn’t like that at all. I grew up around adults who were imaginative and spontaneous, sure, and it was fantastic to go on that ride.”

Yet even with that Hollywood legacy behind her, the It Could Happen to You star eventually decided that life away from cameras was more appealing.

Her final screen appearance came in the 2002 television film The Snow Queen, and she married Hollywood composer Danny Elfman, now 73, the following year. The couple welcomed their son, Oliver, in 2005.

‘It’s too nice being a civilian’

And, for years, fans wondered whether she might ever return to acting, until a rare encounter with photographers in 2023 offered a surprisingly straightforward answer, the Daily Mail reported.

Asked about a possible Hollywood comeback, Fonda replied, “I don’t think so. It’s too nice being a civilian.”

Now, her latest Los Angeles outing has once again drawn attention to a former Hollywood star who appears perfectly content with life away from the big screen.

“I can’t help who I am,” she told the Guardian. “But I can be who I am on my own terms.”
