On Tuesday night, Adriana Saucedo of Portage, Indiana, left her sister’s apartment with an unknown male who was reportedly taking her to purchase marijuana. She never returned home.

“Her boyfriend said they met her at the house and next thing we know is she got into the car and that was the last time she was seen,” Paula Biller, Adriana’s sister, told The Times of Northwest Indiana.

Adriana reportedly arranged for the unknown male to pick her up around 7 p.m. at her other sister’s apartment complex, where she was staying. When the person arrived she got in the vehicle and they left to go to an undisclosed location.

About 15 minutes later she shared on Facebook that they stopped for gas. She then called her boyfriend through Facebook messenger, but he didn’t answer.

That was the last time anyone heard from the 27-year-old.

She didn’t take her purse or her ID or bank card,” Biller said. “My sister thinks she might have had $150 to $200 in cash on her. …This is not in her nature. She has had the same job for four years and she is hardworking and never is a no call, no show, until a couple of days ago.”

On Thursday, police in Gary, Indiana located Adriana’s body. Gary Lt. Thomas Pawlak said she was found in the gymnasium of an abandoned elementary school.

According to the coroner, Adriana sustained gunshot wounds.

Police detained a 15-year-old Adriana previously met through Facebook, as well as a 16-year-old. A 17-year-old suspect has yet to be located.

“During the course of our investigation, our detectives identified two other subjects believed to present at the time of Ms. Saucedo was picked up from her home in what we understand to be a prearranged purchase of a small amount of Marijuana,” police said in a press release.

Investigators believe she was shot inside the vehicle and driven to the school by the three teenagers.

This investigation is ongoing.

Oh how I wish this had a happier ending. I am glad police were able to detain two of the suspects, and I hope they find the third. But one young woman lost her life, and for what?
