A teenager has died after falling off his hunting stand and onto the barrel of his own gun.

Justin Lee Smith was visiting Mississippi from his hometown of Supply, North Carolina, on Saturday November 21, when the accident happened.

The 17-year-old hunter died in Iuka after the ladder he was on moved to one side and he fell 10 feet onto the barrel of his hunting rifle.

The teenager managed to call 911 from his cell phone but then died shortly afterwards.
