I’ve never quite understood the obsession some people have with celebrity romances. I mean, I get that it can be interesting to keep yourself updated with the ongoings of your favorite A-lister, but I guess I’ve just never caught the buzz myself where it pertains to who they may or may not be seeing.
In any case, those readers who do find themselves captivated by the seemingly ever-changing love lives of the rich and famous are in for a treat, with the rumor-mill suggesting that Angelina Jolie may have a new man in her life.
There was a point in time where it was unthinkable that Jolie would be with anyone other than Brad Pitt, but if reports are to be believed, then the former lovers are now so at odds that they can’t even stand to be in one another’s presence.
Since their 2019 divorce, neither Brad nor Angelina have been especially active where dating is concerned (at least not in view of the public). Perhaps it was the explosive nature of their marital breakdown that necessitated the need for some breathing room, or maybe the pair were simply too busy with their respective projects to find someone new.
That changed in 2022, when rumors of Brad Pitt and fashion designer Ines de Ramon began to spring up. In 2023 Pitt and Ines were then seen out and about together, making their red carpet debut earlier this week at the Venice International Film Festival.
Yet while it now seems that Pitt is in a serious relationship once more, things have been exceptionally quiet on Jolie’s front.
Until now, that is.
The Tomb Raider star sparked dating rumors herself during the Venice International Film Festival, having stepped out with British rapper and activist Akala on August 28, 2024.
As per the most recent reports, the pair were sighted in one another’s company leaving a hotel. Needless to say, no sooner had pictures of Angelina and Akala made their way to the internet than did fans have plenty to say.
The unlikely, unexpected pairing drew plenty of comments, ranging from excitement to disbelief.
“I actually love the idea of Angelina Jolie and Akala being together,” one fan wrote.
“Today in the multiverse of madness, we discover that Akala is dating Angelina Jolie,” another said.
A third added: “Akala and Angelina Jolie was not what I expected in this 2024.”
A fourth wrote: “Akala dating Angelina Jolie was not on my 2024 bingo card 🤣.”
40-year-old Akala is a BAFTA and MOBO award-winning music artist, writer and social entrepreneur who has been sighted with Jolie on a number of occasions before, including at the Calabash International Literary Festival in Jamaica last year and then again in December, 2023 in Milan.
