Diane Keaton passed away on October 11, 2025, at the age of 79 years old. The beloved actress’ last public sighting before her death was a while before that in 2024. She was spotted in Los Angeles doing some shopping.
The actress was last seen in her usual style of black turtleneck, boxy gray trousers, and a dark blazer, finishing off the look with her signature bowler hat and round glasses. She was seen waving and smiling at fans as she went around the stores.
This was a rare sight of Keaton who had stepped out of the spotlight a while ago. In her last years, Diane Keaton had opted to retreat from the media and focus more on her personal life and family.
She was also seen in at the 2023 U.S. Open Tennis Championships in New York City. She was pictured enjoying the intense match between Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka. Sitting next to her was actress Ariana DeBose. At the event, she was dressed in her usual signature style.
Diane Keaton’s love for fashion was immense, and in a 2021 interview, she explained her choice of black in her wardrobe. She said, “I think you almost always have to have a little bit of the color black to frame things. It really sucks you in. I’m always going to love black because it highlights. It accentuates. It’s beautiful. Whatever.”
In her later years, she shared that things that brought her peace were nature, her friendships, and quiet moments. In an interview, she said, “I value a very strong friendship, like ours, which I’ve depended on for such a long time. I love to walk with my dog. These are the things I love. And I really do love nature. I love exploring California. I like driving to Arizona. I really enjoy seeing. I guess my favorite thing in life is the fact that I can see. It’s just so unbelievable.”
Even though she had stepped away from the limelight, she was still very much active in the industry, wroking on three projects which included, Artist in Residence with Josh Hutcherson, The Making Of with Blake Lively, and Constance, directed by Mark Pellington.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Diane Keaton’s friends and family.
