Donald Trump regrets never dating Princess Diana

Donald Trump reportedly saw Diana as the “ultimate trophy wife.” Something that has sparked some reactions and headlines over the years.

It’s safe to say that Donald Trump has had a controversial relationship with women. In the 1970s, he was married to Czech model Ivana, but the marriage fell apart after he had an affair with Marla Maples. He then married Marla, but that marriage also ended in divorce.

At the time of writing, he is married to Slovenian model Melania Trump. However, there have been several scandals that have also involved various women. For example, the secret audio recording in which Trump talks about groping women between their legs without consent.

Donald Trump later apologized for his comments. In 2019, journalist Elizabeth Jean Carroll accused Trump of raping her in the 1990s. Trump was found guilty of sexual assault and was subsequently ordered to pay damages to Carroll.

Many may also remember the case of porn actress Stormy Daniels, who claimed she had a one-time affair with him in 2006. Trump was found guilty of 34 charges related to the accounting of hush money paid to her.

The $130,000 was paid to her as a campaign expense, but was reportedly to keep her quiet about an affair. When it comes to women, though, there’s only one thing he regrets. It was that he never managed to get Princess Diana on the hook.

In his 1997 book The Art of the Comeback, he said, according to the Daily Mail, ‘I never had the opportunity to court Lady Diana Spencer.’

‘I met her on a number of occasions,’ he continued. ‘I couldn’t help but notice how she moved people. She lit up the room with her charm, her presence. She was a genuine princess – a dream lady.’

According to the media outlet, Donald Trump tried to court her as the “ultimate trophy wife” after she divorced then-Prince Charles. The media outlet also cites the Sunday Times, where a former BBC journalist and friend of Diana, Selina Scott, recounts conversations she had with the princess.

In a Sunday Times column, former BBC journalist and friend of Diana, Selina Scott recalled huge bouquets of flowers arriving at her Kensington Palace home.

This was the same tactic he used when wooing first wife Ivana.

‘Trump clearly saw Diana as the ultimate trophy wife,’ Scott wrote. ‘As the roses and orchids piled up at her apartment she became increasingly concerned about what she should do. It had begun to feel as if Trump was stalking her.’

Over a private dinner, the princess confided in Scott.

‘”What am I going to do?” she asked. “He gives me the creeps.”

‘”Just throw them in the bin,” I advised. Diana laughed.’

‘When she died in Paris in 1997, Trump [reportedly] told friends his biggest regret was that they hadn’t dated.

‘He said that he always thought he had a chance of romance and would have had a “shot’ with her”‘

People Magazine has also previously highlighted an old Trump interview that took place in 1997 shortly after Diana’s death, in which Trump stated that he could have slept with Diana if she had only been tested for HIV first.
