‘Young and the Restless’ star Eric Braeden reveals prostate cancer was initially misdiagnosed

Less than two weeks ago Eric Braeden revealed he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Now the Young and the Restless star has an another important message to share.

“The reason that I’m going public with this is to inform people,” the 82-year-old shared with Entertainment Tonight.

Braeden, who was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer, said that he was initially misdiagnosed and hopes sharing his medical journey will help other men.

“I just want men to know not to be scared of that. I want them to know to have your prostate examined, have your bladder examined, have your colon examined.”

“As you get older, your prostate grows and it impinges the urethra. It means you have to go to the potty a lot more than you want to. That is sometimes the beginning of some trouble.”

He admitted that the hearing he had cancer was scary, he doesn’t want other people’s fear to stop them from visiting the doctor.

“Just acquaint yourself with it and be open about it, so that way you take the fear out of people… A lot of men, me included, would not want to know about it. That’s nonsense.”

Braeden announced his diagnosis in a Facebook Live video where he explained he first released he was having issues while recovering from knee-replacement surgery.

It wasn’t until he went for a second opinion when he learned he had high-grade cancer cells near his bladder.

“I hate to be this personal, but I think this may be good for some older guys who may or may not listen to this,” he said in the 13-minute video.

The soap opera star is currently undergoing a six-week immunotherapy treatment.
