Scarlet Vas, who played Mishti Sharma on the Australian soap Neighbours, has announced she is expecting her second child with her husband Tayo Ricci, the man who also happens to be her stepbrother.
Scarlet Vas has shared big news to her 2.3 million followers on Instagram.
“The doctor called,” she wrote alongside photos with Tayo Ricci and their daughter Silva. “Apparently we’re having another baby.”
The couple married in 2023 and welcomed Silva in December 2024.
While a lot of people have congratulated the couple on the pregnancy, some people are less charmed.
How the couple got together
Vas and Ricci have known each other since they were around 13, meeting through mutual friends whose families were already connected. Their parents later began dating, making them stepsiblings, though the two are quick to point out there is no blood relation between them.
The couple went public with their relationship in 2020, going viral almost immediately. They decided to lean into the publicity, making the “dating my stepbrother” angle central to their content.
“We were about 13 years old when we first met through mutual friends,” Vas told news.com.au. “We’ve been together for 10 years. We didn’t set out to become influencers, it was never on our radar.”
The couple had been living in the US, where Vas was pursuing acting after leaving Neighbours, before returning to Australia.

The relationship has attracted its share of negative attention over the years and continues to do so. Vas said she and Ricci are genuinely unbothered.
“I don’t really read our comments section, but if I do, I actually laugh,” she said. “We find trolls very entertaining. If something’s really negative, we might comment back, we find it’s quite a good disarming tactic.”
