Ice-T reveals he and wife Coco Austin still co-sleep with 7-year-old daughter Chanel

Ice-T is “so much more connected” to his youngest daughter Chanel compared to his other children when they were the same age.

The actor and rapper has such a connection with his seven-year-old that his unconventional parenting decisions have occasionally come under fire.

During an interview with Daymond John on That Moment with Daymond John podcast, Ice-T spoke about the difference between raising his children, including allowing Chanel to continue to sleep in the same bed as him and his wife Coco Austin.

“I think the difference with Chanel and my other kids is I’m very conscious of this baby,” Ice-T said.

The actor, who is the father of LeTesha Marrow, 47, and 31-year-old Tracy Marrow Jr. (Ice), first became a dad when he was in high school. He admitted having a child at such a young age and at a time when he was trying to jumpstart his career left him “distracted.”

“My son, Ice, happened right when I was becoming Ice T. I’d never been famous before,” he said.

“I was ripping and running, so it was presents over presence. I wasn’t there.”

But with Chanel, who he shares with Austin, his life is very different which has allowed him to focus more on his daughter.

“I’m comfortable. I’m in a cruise pattern. I was there when Coco was pregnant. I went to the hospital, and (Chanel) now still sleeps in the bed with us,” he commented. “I’m so much more connected to her than my other kids … it’s been a beautiful thing.”

Ice-T echoed remarks he previously said about Chanel’s birth giving him a second chance at life and making him “want to live forever.”

“It made me create new goals. It’s the best gift I could ever get.”

While Ice-T and Coco’s parenting may be unconventional to many, it’s what works for their family, and that’s really all that matters.
