Jamie Lynn Spears is joining the cast of Dancing with the Stars. The Sweet Magnolia star will be paired with Alan Bersten, making them the first couple officially revealed for season 32.
Up until now, only two contestants, former Bachelorette Charity Lawson and Vanderpump Rules star Ariana Madix had been announced.
The full cast will be announced Wednesday on Good Morning America.
Spears, 32, appeared on GMA Tuesday to discuss the upcoming season.
“I mean, I don’t know if one can ever be 100 percent ready to take on something this big. I didn’t realize what a commitment it is. But it definitely is. I’m ready to challenge myself,” she said.
The 32-year-old added she would be donating her salary to SAG-AFTRA and the WGA.
“While everybody in my community is on strike, I’ve had this unique opportunity where I was offered a chance to work when my community cannot work. So I figured I’ll do this and I’ll donate my weekly salary to SAG, WGA, just to give back to them at a time when they can’t give to themselves.”
Bersten, who appeared alongside Spears, said rehearsals are already underway.
“We had our first rehearsal and it was great,” he said. “Jamie Lynn is so hard-working and so dedicated and it’s actually so much fun. We get along so well.”
Spears grew up with a “traditional sense of dancing” before going the “cheerleader route,” so training and competing on DWTS will require a different type of commitment.
“And if I get up there and even if I embarrass myself, I’m doing it for a good reason and hopefully giving back to the community that’s literally given back to me since I was a little girl.”
