Jennifer Lopez is once again creating buzz about her relationship with Ben Affleck after eagle-eyed fans spotted a detail in her latest photos that seems to tell a new chapter in a very old love story.
In February 2023, Jennifer Lopez, 56, revealed that she and Ben Affleck had celebrated their first Valentine’s Day as husband and wife by getting matching tattoos, a permanent tribute to the romance that had finally brought them back together after decades apart.
At the time, the singer shared a series of photos on Instagram showing off the new ink. JLo’s tattoo featured an infinity symbol with the names “Jennifer” and “Ben” written in cursive, pierced by an arrow and placed above her ribcage.
Affleck opted for a matching design of his own, choosing two crossed arrows with the letters “J” and “B.”
“Commitment is sexy,” the “On the Floor” singer wrote in the hashtag alongside the now-deleted Valentine’s Day post, according to People.
The mother of two also captioned the photos: “Commitment. Happy Valentine’s Day my love.”
‘Some things do last forever’
The tattoos were meant to symbolize a fresh chapter for the couple, who tied the knot in Las Vegas in 2022 after rekindling their relationship nearly 20 years after their first engagement.
“Now, 20 years later, it does have a happy ending. It has the most would-never-happen-in-Hollywood ending,” JLo told Zane Low on Apple Music 1 at the time. “True love does exist and some things do last forever and that’s real.”
Sadly, that chapter eventually came to an end when Lopez and Affleck finalized their divorce in January 2025, bringing one of Hollywood’s most closely watched relationships to a close.
In a March 2025 interview with GQ, Affleck, 53, explained there was “no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue” behind the couple’s split.
“The truth is, when you talk to somebody, ‘Hey, what happened?’ Well, there is no: ‘This is what happened.’ It’s just a story about people trying to figure out their lives and relationships in ways that we all sort of normally do.”
“And the reason I don’t want to share that is just sort of embarrassing. It feels vulnerable,” he added.
‘Breaking me down’
While Affleck has largely kept details of the breakup private, Lopez has appeared to channel some of her post-divorce experiences into her work.
Several of her recent songs have fueled speculation among fans who believe the lyrics reflect the end of her marriage. In her 2025 track “Up All Night,” Lopez says she’s now “living my best life” after she grew “tired” of a lover “breaking me down.”
The singer has also drawn attention for her candid comments on stage. During a performance at the 2025 Lucca Summer Festival in Italy, Lopez spoke openly about her romantic preferences while addressing the crowd.
“I have to be honest with you, sometimes I get in different moods at night. I don’t know about you but I do, and sometimes I like it hard.
“Other days, I am feeling a little romantic. You put on candles and soft music. On those days, I like it real slow. But there’s other days…maybe because it’s a new kind of time for me, maybe because it’s summertime and it’s hot outside, I feel a little more naughty.”
“You ever get that feeling? Where you feel like being naughty? On those days, I like it real fast,” she added, according to the Daily Mail.
Recently, she shared a subtle but pointed statement with her 300 million followers on Instagram and Facebook.
Ex erased
Over the Memorial Day weekend, Lopez offered fans a glimpse into her life after the split with a series of photos shared on social media.
“Spending the day with the people I love. Happy Memorial Day everybody,” the Kiss of the Spider Woman star wrote alongside a gallery of photos from the holiday weekend.
One image quickly stood out from the rest.
The photo showed Lopez embracing her 18-year-old son Max while wearing a flowing white backless dress that exposed the side of her torso where the tribute tattoo had originally been placed.
A closer look suggested the design no longer appeared exactly as fans remembered it from the photos she shared in 2023.
According to Hello! who carefully analyzed the snap, Lopez appears to have erased her ex-husband’s name from the infinity tattoo she once got to honor their love, replacing part of the design following the couple’s divorce.
