Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni dressed as firefighters in support of International Firefighters Day

Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni hung up their badges for a day and put on firefighter gear giving us all a look at what Benson and Stabler would look like on an episode of Law & Order: FDNY.

The two longtime Law & Order actors wore the gear to support fellow actor Denis Leary’s Leary Firefighters Foundation in celebration of International Firefighter Day.

Not only did Hargitay and Meloni sport the gear, but the actors participated in some firefighting training.

“So… This happened today,” Hargitay wrote on an Instagram clip of her rappelling down the side of a training building.

Hargitay, who has played Olivia Benson on Law & Order: SVU since 1999, shared several photos from what she declared “the most epic day.”

The special day which was arranged by the Leary Firefighters Foundation gave the actors an inside look at all the hard work that goes into being an FDNY firefighter.

Leary started the foundation in 2000 after his cousin, childhood friend, and four other firefighters were killed in a fire in Massachusetts. The foundation helps build training facilities as well as supply vehicles, technology, and other tools to firefighters across the country.

Meloni, who starred on Law & Order: SVU for 12 seasons before reprising his role as Stabler in the spinoff Law & Order: Organized Crime, also shared some photos on Instagram.

Actors Billy Crudup, Robert Burke, and Leary made an appearance in Meloni’s behind the scenes photos. And of course, he shared a photo of himself and Hargitay dressed in full firefighter gear.

Chris Meloni and Mariska Hargitay’s friendship is like no other. It makes me smile to see them together outside of work, especially for a good cause.
