Paris Hilton, a renowned business mogul and reality star, recently shared her thoughts on the challenges of being a working mom.
In a candid interview with CNN, Paris discussed her experiences navigating the demands of parenthood while maintaining a hectic schedule filled with various professional endeavors.
As a mother, Paris is finding ways to strike a balance between her successful career and cherished role as a mom.
A new mom-of-two
Paris Hilton, now a mother of two, welcomed Phoenix in January 2023, followed by the birth of baby daughter London in November 2023. Both children were born via surrogacy and Paris, known for her public persona, chose not to reveal the pregnancies initially, opting instead to just announce the births directly.
The decision to use a surrogate was explored on Paris Hilton’s reality show Paris in Love. Reflecting on her decision, Paris explained (via Vanity Fair): “The surrogacy process, it was definitely a difficult decision to make. But my life has just been so public. So even though the baby is biologically mine and Carter’s, we decided to have a surrogate carry him.” Concerns about safety in the public eye led Paris and her husband, Carter Reum, to opt for surrogacy.
Carter himself expressed his concerns about their children growing up under constant public scrutiny and said that it was important to both him and Paris that their children have privacy. “Now having a family with Paris, we want our family to grow up and be normal and not always be known as Paris Hilton’s children. We have to think about safety,” he explained. “When we go to the farmer’s market, it’s one thing if someone stops and asks Paris for a photo. It’s a whole other thing with the baby in tow in a stroller.”
Balancing working and parenting
Acknowledging the difficulties faced by many mothers, Paris admitted that the most significant challenge in her journey of motherhood was balancing work and family. With a bustling schedule that encompasses her roles as a businesswoman, author, DJ, and reality star, Paris says she now recognizes the importance of managing her time effectively to be fully present for her children.
Paris’ career spans a multitude of ventures, including a cookware line for Walmart, a range of 30 fragrances, best-selling authorship, DJ performances, hosting duties, and maintaining a significant presence as a reality star and influencer.
In the interview, Paris said that she is “learning to say no and trying to spend as much time as possible with my little ones.”
Despite the challenges, Paris said she feels immense joy and fulfillment in her role as a mother. Describing her life as “so complete” with her son and daughter, she clearly seems overjoyed in her new role as a mother, and her genuine affection for her children is evident.
