Morgan Wallen arrested after alleged violent incident at Nashville bar

Country music star Morgan Wallen has once again made headlines, this time for his involvement in an incident at Eric Church’s Chief’s Bar in downtown Nashville while other industry giants gathered for the CMT Awards.

Videos circulated online showed Wallen, 30, seated in a police car outside the establishment.

One caption read: “Morgan Wallen just threw a chair over the balcony at Eric Church’s Chief, going to jail.” Another video (which has since been deleted) displayed apparent information regarding Wallen’s arrest and booking.

Confirming the incident, Wallen’s lawyer, Worrick Robinson, disclosed to Us Weekly the details of the singer’s charges, saying: “At 10:53pm Sunday evening Morgan Wallen was arrested in downtown Nashville for reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct,” adding: “He is cooperating fully with authorities.”

According to Metro Nashville police, officers were present outside the bar when a chair was thrown from above, narrowly missing them. Staff at the establishment alleged that Wallen had hurled the chair from a sixth-story height, News Channel 5 Nashville reported.

Subsequently, police reviewed footage showing Wallen “lunging and throwing an object over the roof,” as per the arrest report, noting that Wallen appeared to find the incident amusing. His bond was set at $15,250, and he is scheduled to appear in court on May 3.

This isn’t Wallen’s first brush with the law. In May 2020, he faced charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct outside Kid Rock’s Nashville bar, although he was later cleared of all charges.

However, Wallen’s career hit a major snag in February 2021 when a video surfaced of him using a racial slur. The backlash was swift and severe, prompting Wallen to issue a public apology. He acknowledged speaking with the Nashville chapter of the NAACP, expressing gratitude for their grace and willingness to help him learn and grow. Despite this, however, his record sales reportedly skyrocketed by more than 300%.

Clearly, in spite of these controversies, Wallen’s career continues to thrive. He embarked on his One Night at a Time Tour earlier this month and received a nomination for Male Video of the Year at the recent CMT Awards.
