Last month, Ozzy Osbourne performed his ‘Back to the Beginning’ farewell in Birmingham. And just 17 days after the performance, he passed away. The Black Sabbath lead man had been living with Parkinson’s disease for the last few years.

The band performed in front of over 40,000 attendees. On the occasion, Ozzy said, “You’ve no idea how I feel – thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

The concert was for charity and managed to raise $190 million, which would be split between the Birmingham Children’s Hosdpital, Cure Parkinson’s, and Acorns Children’s Hospice.

After the concert, Sharon Osbourne spoke to the media and shared how her husband could not believe the reaction he received from the crowd.

“He turned around and he said to me that night, he said, ‘I had no idea that so many people liked me’,” she said. “Ozzy’s always been in his own bubble.”

While her husband was surprised by the adoration, she had been expecting it.

She went on to say, “Oh my God, the metal fans are the most loyal fans in the world! When they’re a fan, you’ve got them for life. They don’t go anywhere.”

“It was a huge success, because it was a phenomenal event. It was the first time, I think, that anybody’s gone into retirement and done it, where the show is streamed and it goes to charity. So it’s the first time anybody has said goodnight like that, it’s the perfect way, when you’ve had such a long career, to end it.”

A while after his death, it was confirmed that Ozzy had passed away because of a heart attack.

In his death certificate which was submitted by Osbourne’s daughter, Aimée Rose Osbourne, the singer’s death was attributed to a cardiac arrest. Coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease with autonomic dysfunction were also listed as ‘joint causes.’

Fans of the singer were seen chanting ‘Ozzy Ozzy Ozzy’ as the hearse carrying his coffin passed through Broad Street.

The singer was not just beloved by his family but by millions across the world. Share this with other fans of Ozzy Osbourne who might enjoy this story.
