Pat Sajak returns to television this fall for his final spin on ‘Celebrity Wheel of Fortune’

Pat Sajak is returning to Wheel of Fortune for one “final spin.”

Even though the longtime game show host officially retired in June, on Wednesday ABC announced Sajak would be returning as host for the upcoming season of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune.

On June 7, Sajak’s four-decade career as host of Wheel of Fortune came to an end.

“I have a few thanks and acknowledgements before I go, and I want to start with all of you watching out there. It’s been an incredible privilege to be invited into millions of homes night after night, year after year, decade after decade,” he told viewers during his farewell episode.

“It’s been a place where kids learned their letters, where people from other countries honed their English skills, where families came together along with friends and neighbors and entire generations. What an honor to have played even a small part in all of that. Thank you for allowing me into your lives.”

When Wheel of Fortune returns for its 42nd season, Ryan Seacrest will take the helm as the host of America’s game with Vanna White continuing in her position as co-host.

Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, which has yet to tape any episodes, will premiere October 7 and will air Mondays when ABC doesn’t have a Monday Night Football game.
