Los Angeles police are investigating after it appears Jennifer Aniston was the victim of a targeted attack last Friday
According to TMZ, officials received a call from a concerned citizen who expressed worry about their friend’s well-being. The caller reportedly said the person was “not doing well” and alluded to seeing them on the other side.
The caller, who remained anonymous, provided police with an address and asked them to perform a welfare check.
Authorities responded to the address around midnight, and it wasn’t until they spoke with security who were onsite that they realized they had been directed to the Friends star’s house.
Aniston emerged from her home and spoke with the officers, assuring them she had no plans of hurting herself like the caller suggested.
Once convinced that Aniston was not in harm’s way, but instead the victim of swatting – the act of deceiving authorities into sending emergency services to another person’s address – officers made note of her address and left the scene.
Authorities will continue to investigate.
The Morning Show star isn’t the only one who has been a victim of swatting. Justin Bieber, Tom Cruise, Rihanna, and Clint Eastwood have all had the police unexpectedly show up at their front doors as well.
