Prince Harry made “smart” move excluding Meghan Markle from Vancouver event, expert says

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s future in the US is uncertain to say the least. With Donald Trump, who has previously threatened Harry with deportation, winning the 2024 presidential election, the Sussexes are said to be nervous about what is to come. In the meantime, the couple continue to focus on work, though not together.

In recent months, the Duke and Duchess have gone in different directions regarding their projects. From always being together at events and trips, they’ve gone to operating more… shall we say individually of late, prompting rumors about the stability of their marriage.

Although nothing has been confirmed or denied, one expert claims that Harry and Meghan are doing the right thing by not doing business together. And now, another PR expert has claimed that Meghan has not benefited from it — but her husband has.

Since their royal exit in 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have stood on the frontlines together. The couple did the infamous Oprah Winfrey interview together, holding hands, and have always put up a united front. Earlier this year, the Sussexes even went on two trips abroad, to Nigeria and Colombia, on what one expert called a “royal tour.” Yet although they have seemed to be deeply in love, what has happened in recent months has left many fans fearing the worst.

Prince Harry has been traveling and engaging in his causes independently, with Meghan Markle doing the same. Just last week, Meghan showed up solo at her friend’s release party for a new haircare line, while Harry attended the Invictus promotional events in Vancouver, the city that will co-host the 2025 Invictus Games.

Rumors have swirled that Harry and Meghan’s marriage may be falling apart, and the recent solo engagements have only further fueled that speculation. There has been no official comment from the Sussexes’ camp about whether the rumors are true, but according to a GB News source, Meghan feels stressed that they won’t go away.

Prince Harry & Meghan Markle

“She has really felt the strain in recent weeks, and with all the speculation surrounding her and Harry and their marriage,” the source said.

“They haven’t done themselves any favors by doing so many separate events but this is what they have decided to do as it works best for them at the moment as a couple and they both feel they can shine at events that are close to their hearts.”

The insider added: “But it does upset her that, while Harry was getting praised for all of his appearances, she is getting criticized for what she says, what she wears, etc and it brings back hurtful memories of when she was a royal.”

Though there have been newspaper rumors about Harry and Meghan living separate lives, PR expert Ed Coram James believes their decision not to work together could be conscious.

Coram James explained to the Mirror that the Sussexes have had a “distinct brand as a duo for many years.” However, since the infamous Oprah interview – which ignited a major public feud with the royals – their brand has become “more toxic” and “commercially untenable.” The PR expert stated that big brands are most likely to be cautious about paying Harry and Meghan to work with them because of this.

Prince Harry & Meghan Markle’s ‘professional split’

“This is because the ongoing confrontation with the rest of the Royal Family, as well as much of Meghan’s family, have made them appear confrontational and combative, their string of commercial projects that haven’t worked out and have led to a sense that they aren’t the best producers. And their worldwide publicity tour made them look whiney, ungrateful, and unconscious to the enormous privilege that they have enjoyed,” Coram James said.

“To overcome the obstacles of appearing spoiled, arrogant, immature, attention-seeking, aggressive, fight-picking, hypocritical, and incompetent is very tricky. But, it is achievable. To do it, they need to lean into the exact opposites of these labels. The first step in this always had to be to dissociate themselves from the brand that had achieved such labels in the first place.”

The PR expert continued: “When combined, the Sussexes brand is, from a PR perspective, toxic. But, when separate, they have a genuine chance of creating an entirely separate brand, with completely different labels. If they manage to achieve this, then one day they could again reunite brands, and create a new combined brand that works.”

Harry and Meghan are clearly beginning to engage in different projects rather than doing the same together, which doesn’t have to be a bad thing. Harry founded the Invictus Games, which has been one of the prince’s main focus areas in recent years.

Expert says Prince Harry is “smart” to attend Invictus Games event solo

Just days ago, he was in Vancouver to promote the Invictus Games, which will be held in the Canadian city next year, and he did so without Meghan. So, did he do better solo than when doing this sort of work with Meghan? According to PR expert Riley Gardiner, that was the case.

“It’s a smart move for Prince Harry to promote the Invictus Games on his own this year,” Gardiner told the Express. “It means the spotlight can stay on the games and away from every little thing Meghan does.”

“He’s showing respect for the athletes and the cause without any distractions. With the launch of the school programme, Harry is helping teach kids about heroism and resilience.”

The PR expert concluded: “He’s fostering empathy and understanding from a young age like the charitable work his mum championed.

Harry and Meghan showed a united front when they visited Colombia together. The couple smiled, danced with each other, and stayed close for the entire duration of the trip. But still, during his Vancouver outing, it appeared that Harry had noticed a noticeable change in the dynamic.

“Always been laid out as a love story”

Speaking with the Mirror, body language expert Judi James stated that Harry and Meghan’s relationship “seems to have evolved from a totally twinned one, where their body language was confined to appearances as a matching, complimentary and very royal-looking double act, to one that resembles the shape of a letter Y; joined and twinned at the base but also separating into two individuals moving into two rather separate professional directions.”

James continued to explain: “The newly ‘sole trader’ body language performances need to be interspersed with appearances that describe and emphasize the base of the ‘Y’. Theirs has always been laid out as a love story with a romantic core and seeing them alone still tends to create a look of a lost limb, thanks to their previously constant love of touch, tie-signs and other PDAs to provide a touching narrative that the world enjoys watching.”

“The recent ‘base of the Y’ appearance was a rather formal and regal video appearance where Meghan threw Harry constant affectionate-looking glances to register besotted encouragement while he spoke, and Harry, more formally, failed to respond in kind apart from one rather rigidly extended arm placed around his wife’s back on the cue of the word ‘together’.”

Prince Harry appeared “happy” solo in Vancouver, body language expert claims

James concluded that the message “clearly” was that they had a closeness to each other. She stated that Harry appears “happy, confident, and comfortable” even though they spend time apart.

“Harry’s body language in Canada shows him in his element: relaxed, excited, cheerful and apparently adoring the approval of the large crowd. Gazing up at the crowd in the stadium signals a happy desire to bask in their attention and to register his own popularity,” body language expert James said.

“His thumbs-up signal is an informal gesture to register mutual liking and to show ‘all is good’. When Harry sits to be interviewed, he uses a partial splay to register power and confidence, placing one hand on his hip and extending his elbow outwards.”

While Harry and Meghan focus on the causes close to their hearts, the Duke has one serious thing hanging over his shoulder. Last year, the American conservative think tank, The Heritage Foundation, sued the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for access to Harry’s immigration records. When applying for certain American visas, one must disclose whether they ever have taken drugs, which could result in their application being denied.

So why did they do this? In his Spare book, Harry revealed that he had tried various drugs when he was younger. The Heritage Foundation explained that they suspect that Harry might have lied on his visa application and not disclosed his drug use in the past. That could be an argument for him not getting a visa.

Will Prince Harry be kicked out of the US by Donald Trump?

“Harry has publicly admitted to extensive illegal drug use. What do we submit this means? That Harry seems to have received special treatment: the [Department of Homeland Security] looked the other way if the prince answered truthfully, or it looked the other way if the prince lied on his visa application. Either action would be wrong,” it read.

In March, Donald Trump stated that the prince could be deported if he lied about his past drug use on his visa application. Just a month earlier, Trump clarified that he “wouldn’t protect” Harry if he won the 2024 presidential election – which he did.

Royal expert Tom Quinn claimed in July that Harry hopes to be spared over the revelations. Trump’s victory is concerning for the Sussexes, as it might affect their residence status in the US. Meanwhile, royal expert Hugo Vickers claimed Harry is on very thin ice with Trump and has decided to get a “backup plan.”

“Knowing the character of Trump, he’s quite likely to want to do something which sort of bangs the fist on the table and establishes his authority. And also something which would get a lot of publicity,” Vickers told The Sun.

“So I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he suddenly said ‘Right, I’m sending Prince Harry out of this country.’ And the reasons that he would use would be the drug issue, because Prince Harry has admitted to taking marijuana, cocaine, magic mushrooms – and may not have filled that in on his visa form.”
