Quincy Jones passed away at the age of 91 years old, leaving behind his iconic legacy as well as seven children. The celebrated producer welcomed seven children with five different women.
Jones had never been shy of talking about his children and boasting about how special they were. He was deeply proud of all of them and their talent. The producer had been married three times and had been involved with several women throughout his life, once addressing it all in an interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Oprah commented on the perception of how Jones only seemed to date white women, to which the singer famously replied, “I have been with every kind of woman of every nationality,” adding that he wouldn’t limit himself based on race or location.
While Jones had not married every woman he welcomed a child with, he made sure to be a present father in the lives of all his children. In a Father’s Day post in June 2018, he wrote about how he had experienced so much joy with his responsibility of being a dad.
“Never underestimate your role in your kid’s lives…I learned that a bit later in my life, but I’m so glad I finally figured it out because being a father is hands down one of the greatest blessings!!” he wrote.
The famed producer also kept his father’s words close, his father had said, “once a task has just begun, never leave it ’til it’s done, be the labor great or small, do it well or not at all.”
Reflecting on his father’s strength in supporting the family through the hardships of the Great Depression, the veteran star noted the beauty in looking back on old photographs, saying they reminded him of his parent’s unwavering love and commitment.
Quincy was never shy to express his appreciation for his family one saying, “I’m so grateful for my daughters because they aren’t scared to stand up to their daddy. I am an imperfect human & I’m not afraid to say it.”
Quincy’s eldest child is his daughter Jolie Jones who was born on October 4, 1953. Jones welcomed Jolie with his first wife, who was his high-school sweetheart Jeri Caldwell. The couple married in 1956 and divorced a decade later in 1966. Jolie is a health advocate and herself struggles with Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity (EHS), which she has described as a “debilitating” condition on her website. She wants to create more awareness about the issue and “the responsibility to open up a dialog” by bringing attention to the condition.
The second child Jones’ welcomed was Rachel Jones. He welcomed Rachel on July 23, 1963, following a brief affair with her mom, dancer Carol Reynolds.
A few years ago he wrote a touching birthday tribute to his daughter Rachel sharing a picture of the two of them with the caption, “Happy Happy Birthday to my sweet daughter Rachel @drmarinavet <3 !!! Thank U for your love & light…We all know this world needs more of it!” Rachel is a mother herself now and works as a veterinarian.
Quincy Jones welcomed his third child, Martina Jones on November 1, 1966. He welcomed Martina with his wife, Swedish model Ulla Andersson, whom he married on November 1, 1966.
The couple separated in 1974 and Martina moved to Sweden with her mother. She began to pursue a career in modelling and now works as a photographer. While she shares images from her life on social media, she tends to keep her private life quite private.

After her mother passed away. Quincy was heartbroken and described the late woman as his ‘beloved’ wife and mother of his ‘incredibly daughters.’ On their part, the two girls encouraged donations to Seasons Hospice in honor of their mother’s memory.
Quincy’s second daughter with Lipton was Rashida Jones. She might arguably the most popular of all of his children. Born February 25, 1976, Jones is known for her roles in shows like “The Office,” “Parks and Recreation,” and “Angie Tribeca,” and more.
