Tom Guiry, best known for his role as Scotty Smalls in The Sandlot, was arrested and charged with assault, along with assault and battery, Fox News reported.
The incident occurred in South Carolina, where Guiry was taken into custody on June 2.
According to the Horry County Sheriff’s Office, the former child star faced charges of assault and battery as well as malicious injury to personal property. Guiry was released from custody the following day, on June 3.
On Monday morning, Guiry pleaded guilty to the charges, which included an additional count of disorderly conduct, as reported by local outlet WBTW. He was ordered to pay $757 in fines and was credited with time served.
According to a police report obtained by WBTW, Guiry was seen hurling a dumbbell into the windshield of his neighbor’s Jeep on June 2. The 42-year-old actor allegedly lifted the 35-pound weight over his head before smashing it into the vehicle’s windshield. Afterward, he walked back across several lawns to his home in the Myrtle Beach-area neighborhood.
While authorities were questioning Guiry, the neighbor reportedly confronted him, saying: “Really? My window’s been shattered.”
Guiry allegedly responded: “That sucks man, I’ll pay you back, I’m sorry, I’m gonna get you back.”
Police also reported that he excitedly admitted: “I did it. I’m sorry man. I’m coming back to get you… I… sorry, brother, I’ll pay you back.”
The neighbor further claimed that Guiry came to his front door while holding a knife. He reportedly followed the neighbor’s wife into the garage while still holding the knife before the neighbor confronted him, as detailed in the WBTW report.
Guiry’s fame stems from his iconic role in The Sandlot, where he starred alongside Mike Vitar, Patrick Renna, Marty York, Chauncey Leopardi, Brandon Quintin Adams, Grant Gelt, Victor DiMattia, Shane Obedzinski, and James Earl Jones.
Beyond The Sandlot, Guiry also appeared in beloved films such as Lassie, Black Hawk Down, and Mystic River.
