Shannen Doherty finalized her divorce to ex-husband Kurt Iswarienko one day before her death

Shannen Doherty agreed to settle her divorce with ex-husband Kurt Iswarienko just one day before her death.

According to multiple media outlets, paperwork was submitted on July 12 stating the two agreed to a “default or uncontested dissolution” of their marriage, suggesting they had agreed to their divorce proceedings outside of court.

“The parties have entered into a written agreement regarding their property and their marriage or domestic partnership rights, including support, the original of which is being or has been submitted to the court,” the documents stated, according to People.

The former Charmed actress also signed paperwork waiving her right to spousal support.

“I knowingly give up forever any right to receive spousal or partner support,” she wrote.

Iswarienko signed the documents on July 13, the day Doherty died after her long battle with cancer.

After 11 years of marriage, Doherty filed for divorce from Iswarienko in April 2023.

Although divorce was the “last thing” Doherty wanted, according to her rep, Leslie Sloane, “she felt she was left with no other option.”

The actress requested for spousal support, which led to a contentious divorce battle.

In June 2024, Doherty alleged Iswarienko was drawing out the process and “intentionally delaying settlement in hopes” that she would die from cancer before the divorce proceedings.

“It is simply not right that Kurt be permitted to prolong our divorce in hopes that I die before he is required to pay me while he continues to live his life and shirk his responsibilities to his dying wife of more than 11 years,” she stated in the documents.

Iswarienko’s lawyer disputed Doherty’s claim, saying a deal was offered in October 2023, but Doherty denied it.

“Kurt is not ‘simply wait[ing] for Shannen to die,’” his lawyer Katherine Heersema stated. “He wants the best for Shannen and he wants both of them to be able to put this case behind them and move forward.”
