Viewers divided on ‘graphic uncensored’ scene in new Jennifer Lopez movie

Jennifer Lopez’s new Netflix movie Office Romance is getting plenty of attention, and not just because of the on-screen chemistry between the two leads.

Office Romance starring Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein released on June 5 and follows an airline CEO who develops feelings for a lawyer.

Since its release, the romantic comedy has sparked discussion online after viewers discovered an unexpectedly graphic childbirth scene in the middle of the film.

Unexpected moment in new JLo movie caught viewers off guard

The scene involves Sydney, a pregnant employee played by Betty Gilpin.

Throughout the movie, Sydney continues working despite being close to giving birth. Eventually, she goes into labor at the office and delivers her baby with the help of her colleagues. Many viewers admitted they were surprised to see such a detailed childbirth scene in a romantic comedy.

“I don’t know what I was expecting, but I don’t think a full graphic uncensored birthing scene was one of them,” one viewer wrote on social media.

Another person described the scene as unnecessary, while others praised it for showing childbirth in a more realistic way than is typically seen in movies.

One viewer wrote that it was “the realest” birth scene they had ever watched on screen.

Gilpin reveals how the notorious scene was filmed

Gilpin has since opened up about filming the memorable sequence. Speaking to Variety, the actress said she was initially startled when she first saw the prosthetics created for the scene.

“I had a nervous breakdown and then I was like, “Oh, but I’ll be holding the ultimate working mom’s hand, Jennifer Lopez, so what could go wrong?””

She also shared details about the filming process, explaining that prosthetic legs and an animatronic baby were used to create the scene.

“It was insane,” Gilpin said.

The actress revealed that crew members had to repeatedly reset the props between takes, making the filming process even more unusual.
